Role and Responsibilities:

The Analytics Director supports the growth of 605 primarily through client engagements and product enhancements. This role will focus on advancing analytic processes and products that solve the most pressing needs and challenges of our industry. The day-to-day functions require managing reports and internal developments which streamline productivity and help clients solve high-priority problems. Proficiency in R and SQL are required for this role because the Analytics Director will lead by example, coding with the teams and helping team members develop effective solutions. Due to the demand for collaboration within and across teams, this role requires efficient and proactive communication to balance workloads, prioritize goals and find opportunities for optimization.

Management (35%)

  • Guide the team through the adoption of new processes or migrations to new tools, infrastructure, and business goals.
  • Help team members develop their careers; assign them to projects tailored to their skill levels, personalities, work styles, and professional goals.
  • Meet weekly with Analytics managers to allocate the team's time and energy across projects and share feedback on the performance of individual contributors.
  • Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respectful of each other. Work as part of a collaborative hiring team to interview and hire new group members.
  • Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize the individual strengths and contributions of your team members.

Cross-Company Integration (25%)

  • Work with the product team to automate analytic workflows into syndicated products to streamline Analytic work
  • Work with Product for method standardization across all client deliveries.
  • Establish waterfall decision-making so that consistent and efficient solutions can be discovered.
  • Work with Data Science to innovate methodologies.
  • Work to validate and critique product and engineering solutions.

Project Management (25%)

  • Manage client-facing projects and internal projects that include a mix of your own direct reports and other teams. Delegate work and update stakeholders within and outside 605.
  • Interface directly with clients in tight coordination with the client solutions team.
  • Provide in-bound support for active projects including client and internal engagements.
  • Maintain a balance between building principled, mathematically rigorous solutions and shipping things quickly, with a focus on product development.
  • Instill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processes.
  • Manage client expectations on analytics-related projects in terms of estimated scope, timing, deliverables and dependencies.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to internal teams and clients regarding research and analytics methodology.

Individual work (15%)

  • Maintain visibility into project details by working closely with team members and taking on a portion of hands-on project work yourself.
  • Set a good example for team members in terms of code and output quality.
  • Continue enabling high quality standards and review team members codes for correctness and optimization.
  • Apply your specialized expertise and experience to complex, difficult, and particularly interesting analytics and data science challenges.
  • Determine the high-level architecture of analytical solutions which relate to both client engagements and product development.
  • Build and maintain tools, standards, templates and best practices that allow less experienced team members to reuse your solutions.
  • Act as a point of contact between Account Management, Product and Analytics groups. Understand the long-term needs and immediate priorities.
  • 8+ years of industry experience in a comparable field (graduate degree plus 6 + years of industry experience);
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field;
  • 4+ year of management experience leading people, departments and projects;
  • Excellent R/Python coder with 3+ years of coding and specifically 2+ years in R/Python coding;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; a proven ability to cultivate relationships within and across departments; the ability and desire to work well in a highly collaborative team environment;
  • Strong ability to communicate about data structure and characteristics, analytical techniques, statistical findings, and solutions to a variety of audiences;
  • Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical, data and behavioral science(s) with an emphasis on hypothesis testing, sampling, weighting, bias corrections, causal inference, and modeling techniques; ability to recognize gaps in own understanding; ability to continually improve current methodologies and processes;
  • Excellent project management skills, prioritizing demands to meet overall objectives, improve efficiencies and finding stable threads to explore within amorphous and changing business problems;
  • Inclined towards thinking ahead and building for the future; ability to evaluate new methods and to determine fit with current workloads;
  • Ability to improve efficiencies, automate processes and continually adapt towards a more product oriented approach

Preferred Skills:

  • PhD, ABD, Masters with experience in a comparable field
  • Domain familiarity with the TV, media, and advertising landscape, media measurement, and the cross-platform / digital ecosystem
  • Familiarity supporting a variety of clients with varying levels of expertise and understanding in data science and/or analytics
  • Strong communications and visualization skills with data-intensive presentations, including geographic or time-series analyses
  • Previous experience with Databricks (or other distributed computing environments) and familiarity with Spark SQL and Scala
