about the analytics engineer role:

soona is looking for an analytics engineer who will work closely with the data and engineering teams, as well as with various stakeholders throughout the organization to coalesce, analyze, and report our data to our team. the analytics engineer will own data transformations within our data warehouse and reporting within our analytics platforms to surface new and dynamic findings that will further optimize our ability to generate revenue and improve customer value. to be successful in this role, you will be passionate about becoming an expert in turning raw data into ingestible metrics for the business to make decision upon and for the data science organizations to build into data-driven products.

this is a full-time remote position, however you must sit in one of our operating states: CO, MN, TX, NY, MA, WA, IL or CA. we also have space in our Denver or Minneapolis offices, if that’s your thing. this role will report to the senior director of data science.

an ideal candidate can:

  • help build and migrate our data systems to efficiently ingest data from multiple sources and that intelligently handle the scale and complexities of real-world data
  • implement processes and systems to supervise data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for the teams that depend on it
  • gather requirements from the rest of the data team and other internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvements, set priorities, and execute on them
  • partner with the product, engineering, and data teams to develop experiments to test hypotheses that will drive product adoption and growth
  • create and maintain best practices for data transformations and visualizations
  • build dashboards to effectively communicate the state of our business and products, operational performance, experiment results, and potential opportunities for growth
  • gather requirements and work with other teams in collaborative ways to strategize for business success and optimize for efficiency
  • deliver quality code in an agile framework that ships to a production environment
  • correlate work to business KPIs and be accountable for improvement targets
  • effectively communicate with product/business stakeholders to understand requirements
  • effectively communicate with data science and engineering to follow system standards
  • effectively communicate with stakeholders to explain outputs and provide training


has experience in:

  • effectively communicating and coding in a remote work environment
  • sql – optimizing performance and transformation efficiencies on OLAP data warehouses
  • working with marketing, sales, and finance teams and understanding their target KPIs
  • writing technical requirements and documentation
  • dbt and looker – the primary tools used for this role
  • python – the core language of the data organization
  • github version control
  • aws or equivalent cloud environment is preferred
  • startup experience is preferred

we can offer:

  • starting salary: $100,000 - $115,000 (depending on experience)
