the director of data science will drive our next generation of product creation at soona. we are looking for a leader that wants to build a data-driven creative company. this is an opportunity for getting engaged early in a fast-growing startup with a dynamic team. the role will work directly with our CTO on creating our data infrastructure and build the decisions functions that inform our product vision. the role will be given a chance to build their own team and recruit new teammates to shape the team they always wanted. an ideal leader will be able to bring strong planning and strategy talent with a dynamic ability to interpret data and has a background in product development.

the single most important thing this role can do is make the entire company smarter and faster at understanding our customers and opportunities for improvement in our product. from selecting tools and tests to shaping business strategy - this role will report directly to the CEO as we make moves on our next phase of growth.

• demonstrate a background in decisions engineering and data science
• architect a data infrastructure and routinely adapt and add-on to the infrastructure
• bring strong quantitative and qualitative knowledge
• develop data products that can be used by a vast array of customers
• run analysis and provide recommendations and insights
• recruit and lead an all-star team
• develop a process of running tests across the organization
• consult with a variety of stakeholders on their insights
• provide expertise on tools and software decisions and deployment
• prepare reports and presentations that can be understood across the organization
• communicate seamlessly from high level strategy to deep details
• illustrate trends and identify potential opportunities for further research
• communicate complex information effectively
• has an understanding of subscription models and customer retention strategies
• execute at a senior level that is suitable for a boardroom presentation

has experience in:

• 9+ years of data science or algorithms experience
• data architecting
• leading a data team
• building products
• data and report analysis
• have a degree in a relevant field
• masters preferred
• managing and developing staff remotely
• denver location preferred but open to remote
