Be a part of the team building the future of healthcare!

At Firefly Health, we believe that the current healthcare system is broken. That’s why we are building a revolutionary new type of comprehensive health "care and coverage" solution, powered by a relationship-driven care team, a trusted virtual and in-person clinical network, and our proprietary technology platform.

Founded by experienced clinicians and technology leaders, Firefly Health is on a mission to deliver half-priced health care that's twice as good, clinically and emotionally. We are flipping the script on what it means to be a health plan and actually providing a true health benefit to members.

We are intensely focused on optimizing the physical + mental + financial wellbeing of those who want (and deserve) something better than the status quo. If you are ready to roll up your sleeves and take on our audacious mission, then we would love to hear from you.

Your Role

At Firefly, we are bringing both a new model of care and coverage product to the market that requires us to deeply understand how our patients use Firefly and navigate the broader care network. You will lead the initiative to turn data related to our referral patterns and the associated operational workflows into insights to drive better clinical outcomes, cost outcomes, and better software. This will include working with financial data, medical claims data, medical record information, and rich product interaction data from our members. Connecting the dots across these datasets gives us unique insights into how to improve care coordination, better manage risk, and design higher-performing provider networks, and ultimately a standout member experience.

Firefly’s cross-functional Network Operations team includes our Chief Network Officer, software engineers, a product manager, designer, clinicians, business leaders from across the company, and, soon to include, an analyst.

Our analytics stack includes Looker, FiveTran, dbt, Snowflake, and an EC2 server for Python scripts. You will report to the Head of Analytics.

You will:

  • Operate as a full stack analyst, writing SQL to model data with dbt, develop dashboards in Looker, and operationalize analyses into workflows
  • Work closely with stakeholders to spec projects and manage analysis prioritization
  • Become well-acquainted with internal tools and technical processes, in particular database querying and dashboard creation
  • Support our tech team, network operations team, and leadership by guiding decisions and implementation on an ongoing basis
  • Review referral patterns to identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve operational workflows, and improve member experience
  • Translate claims data into network utilization insights, identify gaps in our provider network, identify opportunities to better manage cost
  • Use data to tell the story externally about how we save employees and companies money

You’d be a good fit if you have:

  • Experience as an analyst or data scientist supporting customer support or other operational teams in the past.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel or other workforce planning solutions to build labor models
  • Experience with Looker (or another modern BI tool), Snowflake, and dbt
  • Experience working in healthcare and an interest in improving it
  • Been part of quickly-growing organizations and data teams in the past

Our office is located in Watertown, MA, however, it is not a requirement that you live in the Boston area for this role. You will need to work mostly US East Coast hours though.

Firefly is an equal opportunity employer. We value diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We're committed to building and sustaining an inclusive workplace culture where individuals are treated with dignity and respect. All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.
