Description

Curriculum Associates is a rapidly growing educational technology and publishing company committed to making classrooms better places for teachers and students. We are seeking a talented individual with strong research skills to join our Research team as an Associate Research Scientist.

Job Description:

In this role, you’ll design and execute rigorous research projects focused on CA’s assessment and instruction products, which are used by over 10 million students throughout the United States. By applying your analytic mindset, technical skills, and a wide variety of statistical methodologies to one of the richest education datasets in the country, you will help answer pressing research questions that illustrate the impact of our educational programs on student learning and provide research and analytics to support state and local decision makers.

This opportunity is right for you if:

  • You are passionate about K–12 education and want to make a positive impact for students and teachers
  • You are interested in conducting large-scale, and sometimes high profile, research that supports educators and leads to improvement in products that serve students and teachers
  • You enjoy the challenge of successfully wrangling large, complex data sets
  • You can independently handle quantitative analyses and communicate the results clearly and succinctly to non-technical audiences
  • You are a self-directed worker who will thrive in a remote working environment

The impact you’ll have:

  • You’ll contribute to every phase of the research process
  • You’ll design and execute studies that answer actionable research questions about CA’s instruction solutions using a variety of statistical methodologies
  • You’ll draft documentation for internal and external audiences, including process documentation, analysis specifications, and reporting of results
  • You will have opportunities to present research findings to diverse audiences, including internal stakeholder meetings and professional conferences
  • You’ll contribute to quality control processes to ensure the accuracy of data, analyses, and findings of research projects

Who we’re looking for:

  • Ph.D. in education research, public policy, or other quantitative social science discipline with 0-3 years of experience (candidates at the dissertation phase of their graduate program will also be considered)
  • Experience working on education research and/or evaluation projects
  • Knowledge of hierarchical modeling, clustering or other data reduction techniques, and other complex statistical methods
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently use various software to manipulate data and conduct quantitative analyses (preferably SAS or R)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Independent worker and collaborative colleague who team members value

We’d also love to see, though not required:

  • Demonstrated experience in digital learning, reading, and/or mathematics at the K-8 level
  • Experience using SQL for querying from large, complex databases

Location: This is a remote position which will work collaboratively with a team of other researchers, most of whom are also working remotely. Curriculum Associates is a socially responsible, rapidly growing educational company headquartered northwest of Boston, MA.

Travel expectations: Less than 10% of total time. Travel for this position will likely include one semi-annual team meeting, one semi-annual advisory committee meeting, and travel to national conferences when proposals have been accepted.

Pay range: This role’s range is $69,2500-$130,500. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that Curriculum Associates considers in making compensation decisions based on our Compensation Philosophy. Actual base pay within that range will vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, prior experience and relevant skill sets. At Curriculum Associates, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances for each case. This role is also eligible to participate in the company bonus plan. The Company recognizes that minimum wage varies by location and will ensure all compensation decisions comply with applicable state and local laws.

Benefits: Benefit eligible employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees can enroll in our company’s 401k plan and receive an employer match. Employees have access to a flexible vacation and sick policy in addition to twelve paid holidays and a winter office closure between Christmas and New Year's, as well as a number of additional perks and benefits.

Please note: A cover letter is required for consideration.
