Ellevation is looking for an experienced, action-oriented Business Intelligence Analyst, who is highly motivated to learn and grow and is passionate about data and analytics in support of driving business decisions. The ideal candidate is a driven analyst who will support us in building and growing our analytics capabilities from descriptive analytics to diagnostic analytics. As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll work cross-functionally to help inform and monitor our business strategy for Sales, Revenue, Marketing, and Partner (Customer) Success functions.

Responsibilities

    • Understand business needs to gather, analyze, interpret, and communicate data insights that inform stakeholders at all levels to make data-informed decisions.
    • Build, maintain, and monitor a comprehensive set of metrics and KPIs to measure the health and success of various business functions across organizations.
    • Deliver high-quality analytics through well-architected reporting. 
    • Support initiatives to improve, simplify, and optimize data models in the data warehouse to support the analytical data needs. 
    • Maintain data integrity and support efforts to improve data quality across systems.
    • Make data accessible to users with the right governance and access management in place.
    • Serve as an analytics partner to the business by proactively defining metrics for strategic goals and driving data literacy efforts to help improve the adoption of data across the organization.
    • Administration of BI Platform.
    • Maintain high-quality documentation on the business systems and BI solutions to support Data Governance.

Within 1 month, you will:

    • Onboard and learn about Ellevation, and the work we do to improve outcomes for EL students.
    • Develop relationships across the Finance and Operations team.
    • Meet with various departments to understand their business process, corresponding business systems/data sources, and metrics.
    • Get hands-on with our BI Platform.

Within 3 months, you will:

    • Develop a solid understanding of current KPIs, and metrics used by various business functions, and understand the context and usage of insights derived from these KPIs and metrics.
    • Develop a solid understanding of the data landscape at Ellevation Education.
    • Start Reviewing current reports and dashboards associated with metrics and identify areas of improvement.
    • Start working on ad-hoc data requests.

Within 6 months, you will:

    • Develop a solid understanding of reports and dashboards currently built and used across the organization.
    • Start working on the maintenance and improvement of current reports and dashboards. 
    • Troubleshoot and maintain data integrity issues across systems.
    • Understand current data models pertaining to key data assets, help support improvement and simplify data models for analytical operations.
    • Support Data Governance initiatives by working with system owners and gathering business rules across systems pertaining to data assets.

Within 12 months, you will:

    • Build and maintain all the reports and dashboards in the BI platform.
    • Work on strategic projects and Business Analytics initiatives to inform business decisions.
    • Proactively define metrics in support of strategic goals and work closely with leaders and stakeholders at all levels to support teams to derive actionable insights from data.
    • Serve as an analytics partner to the business by driving data literacy efforts and help improve the adoption of data across the organization.
    • Support Data Governance initiatives.
    • Manage administration of the BI Platform.

About You

    • Bachelor’s Degree in an analytical field (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business or a related field). Master’s Degree is a plus.
    • 3+ years of prior experience in business intelligence, business analysis, strategy, analytics and/or equivalent.
    • Good business acumen, experience with business measures, metrics, and KPIs.
    • Exceptional SQL skills that include – Data Aggregation, Slicing and Dicing data, window functions, sub queries, data transformation, and querying across multiple sources of data.
    • Advanced Excel skills are required. Experience with Sisense, Tableau, Power BI or a similar BI Platform is required.
    • Experience in Python or R (or other programming languages) is highly preferred.
    • Knowledge of data warehousing and dimensional data modeling and experience working in a cloud data warehouse is a plus. 
    • Proven track record of using data to drive business decisions including the ability to structure problems for analysis, analyze the data, and provide actionable recommendations through effective and compelling storytelling.
    • Exposure to end-to-end enterprise business processes across Marketing, Customer Acquisition, Sales, Customer Success, Renewal, Professional Services, Product / Usage Analytics, Finance, etc. in a cloud-based business model.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization, with both technical and non-technical audiences.
