The Opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University's Academic Analytics team is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst. Our Analytics team develops business and operational metrics and analyses that allow our partners to focus on the success of every student. You will collaborate with the team and internal business clients to provide relevant insights. Our team of analysts, data scientists, and database developers strives to be nimble, while using the data collected from student interactions beginning with our first contact on through to graduation. This position is remote (#LI-Remote) and you will report to the Associate Director of Analytics. For this role, you will need to be analytical in nature and have a creative eye when it comes to data.

The Analytics team is responsible for analytics across the entire University and has built solutions during periods of tremendous growth. Southern New Hampshire University is looking for someone to help us modernize our reporting and analytical processes. These solutions have worked well and continue to deliver important information to decision makers. As we continue to grow we are looking for an Analyst with the expertise to help maintain what we have built while at the same time help us build on our approach as the University moves to a new Student Information System.

In this Role You'll Get To:

  • Gather and analyze data from multiple databases and other sources to perform single-variate analyses regarding business and operational trends
  • Present qualitative and quantitative analyses to partners, including recommendations
  • Use story-telling skills to deliver insights that are clear
  • Work with partners to interpret analysis results with a focus on applicable next steps
  • Develop reports to support analytics
  • Advise and assist partners in determining the appropriate analytical methodologies to address business questions/problems/goals
  • Provide consultation, training and technical assistance to internal clients
  • Design and help implement process improvement plans
  • Collaborate with other Analysts and Data Warehouse team to ensure congruency of reporting, minimize duplication of effort, and identify/rectify limitations in data sources and data delivery options
  • You will attend a variety of meetings as an Analytics representative and will speak to important metrics and any other data questions

What we're Looking For:

  • 4+ years of practical experience in a data-driven business environment
  • 2+ Years of practical experience working with data directly with SQL and Power BI or other data visualization tools
  • Bachelors or more advanced degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as business, mathematics, or the sciences
  • Experience in database structures and database querying tools
  • Code (MS SQL), Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, V-look ups, functions and complex calculations, Power BI, or other reporting tools
  • Design rich story telling data visualizations to communicate complex business concepts
  • You will need have a natural curiosity about data and the perseverance to dig in and explore
  • Experience report building and working directly with partners from initial request on through deployment
  • You can mine, shape, visualize and analyze data, and present findings to your partners
  • Form relationships with our business stakeholders, as we are their analytics partners and guide them in understanding the data story so they are empowered to use the information in the correct context.

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of higher education industry/sector experience
  • Experience using and implementing Cloud-based reporting tools
