The Prime Video team is shaping the future of digital video entertainment. Our mission is to offer customers the widest selection of digital video content including Amazon Originals and Live Sports and make it easy for them to enjoy it wherever and whenever they want.

The X-Ray team's mission is to help customers further immerse in the Movies, TV, and Live Sports they love to watch by answering burning questions like 'Who's that Actor?', 'What's that song?' or 'What was the call on that last play?' - all while answering questions they didn't even know they had, with features like easter egg trivia and bonus content for movies to visualized stats and play maps on live sports. We are a fun team that loves to help fans connect more deeply with the content, characters, and athletes they love and are constantly looking around corners to find new ways to delight our users. To help us fulfill this mission, we are looking for a senior business intelligence engineer to help our team answer hard questions with real data. You'll work cross functionally with product, UX, tech, operations, marketing, and creative teams to drive decision-making with data, develop customer insights, and develop rigorous and scalable mechanisms for reporting on and monitoring our business. The datasets you'll be working with will be large and complex, and will often require diving deep across varying business lines and working with multiple stakeholders to problem-solve.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Owning the design, development, and maintenance of scalable solutions for ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to support analytical and business needs.

  • Translate basic business problem statements into analysis requirements.

  • Use analytical and statistical rigor to answer business questions and drive business decisions.

  • Find and create ways to measure the customer experience to drive business outcomes.

  • Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.

  • Write queries and output efficiently, and have in-depth knowledge of the data available. Pull the data needed with standard query syntax; periodically identify more advanced methods of query optimization. Convert data to make it analysis-ready.

  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

  • Troubleshoot operational data-quality issues.

  • Review and audit existing ETL jobs and queries.

  • Recommending improvements to back-end data sources for increased accuracy and simplicity.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in the data/BI space
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

-Interest in Entertainment (movies, tv, live sports)

  • Masters or Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or a related discipline

  • Familiarity with solutions such as AWS, EC2, S3, or DynamoDB

  • Knowledge and direct experience using business intelligence reporting tools. (Tableau, Business Objects, Microstrategy, OBIEE, Cognos, Cubes, etc.)

  • Experience coding with scripting languages (R or Python) to do basic data manipulation and mathematical computations

  • Experience in partnering with business owners to understand requirements and develop supporting analysis to solve business problems

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
