This is an engagement through Upwork’s Hybrid Workforce Solutions (HWS) Team. Our Hybrid Workforce Solutions Team is a global group of professionals that support Upwork’s business. Our HWS team members are located all over the world.

Work/Project Scope:

• Perform ongoing data analysis and provide a level of expertise in connecting the data to show the journey through readouts and presentations.
• Proactively seek out opportunities to utilize dashboards, data visualizations, and analysis to help show our business and evaluate (or identify) problem statements.
• Partner with team members on the implementation and management of Business Intelligence technologies focused on our operational world.
• Create dashboards to show monthly metrics and support regular operational reviews of KPIs
• Evangelize and increase the adoption of reporting and BI solutions by supporting and training the user community.
• Exemplify engineering excellence including, but definitely not limited to: object inheritance, SQL query creation & optimization, version control, and promotion of code through environments.
• Work with engineers and leadership to productionalize repeatable reporting processes.
• Enforce data governance policies and ensure data quality across our BI portfolio through SQL understanding, data reconciliation, and pull request review.
• Work with partners across engineering to analyze patterns and trends to drive a continuous improvement cadence within the organization.
• Work with engineers across CLEO to establish the hooks and telemetry needed to capture key data points and metrics for our operational intelligence reporting 

Must Haves (Required Skills):

• Extensive experience in data analytics and/or data engineering in medium and large-size companies.
• Previous operations analytics (SLOs, SLAs, MTTD, MTTR, etc.), data analytics, or business intelligence experience.
• Ability to start from scratch and create dashboards and data visualizations that help to identify patterns & trends along with operational insights. 
• Hands-on experience with modern Business Intelligence, Dashboarding, ETL, and data warehousing technologies including no-SQL solutions.
• Experience in Looker’s LookML language, JIRA’s JML, and other similar technologies
• Worked with Cloud-based solutions and other service-based architectures (AWS, REST APIs, etc)
• Hands-on experience in the marketplace business model and/or user behavior tracking and analytics.
• Expertise in working on both sides of the business analysis divide, between data engineers writing scripts and stakeholders looking for business performance insights
• Expert-level SQL knowledge; experience with PostgreSQL a preference
• Ability to read and write code including scripting (Bash Shell, Python, Java, and/or Perl)
