The Opportunity

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative is seeking to recruit a Data Analyst to join an outstanding investment operations team that is critical to the execution of CZI’s multi-asset class investment portfolio. The investment function pursues a "manager-of-managers" approach, working with funds across a wide spectrum of investment styles and strategies. The ideal candidate will have a technical background with a strong interest in acquiring finance knowledge.  They will have a strategic approach, while also possessing a proactive, entrepreneurial attitude, and is excited about shaping and building out CZI’s investment systems and reporting tools.  A commitment and passion for philanthropy and CZI’s mission will also be a key consideration.

You will

  • Leverage technology to manage and maintain clean data sets and sources, and automate as many data integration tasks as possible. Implement pro-active exception handling & notification systems to ensure consistently high-quality data and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Provide quantitative reporting and data for analysis. You will develop reports and dashboards in support of the investment process.
  •  Contribute to the development and maintenance of analytical tools that support the investment program. A primary focus will be investment performance, exposure, and liquidity reporting and reconciliations.
  •  Compile, organize, and manage financial data that provide inputs for monitoring investments and investment decision-making. Make data easily accessible through suitable reports and through the use of intuitive, easy-to-use software tools.
  •  Utilize quantitative skills, such as time series regressions, simulation, development, implementation and/or testing of quantitative financial models to support quantitative projects and reporting.

You have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or another STEM field.
  • Knowledge of Python and use of RESTful APIs and knowledge of VBA and Excel is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in areas of Computer Science and computer technology that are relevant for financial databases and modeling.
  • Strong interest in financial mathematics and economics, including quantitative skills and reasoning.
  • Have (or demonstrate an ability to quickly gain) knowledge of industry-leading software, including third-party software for investment performance and risk measurement.
  • Basic knowledge of general quantitative models and techniques.
  • A positive attitude, work well on teams with colleagues from a variety of professional backgrounds, and be willing to ask questions in uncertain circumstances.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Independent thinking and the ability to understand technical documentation needed for solving the problems are essential.
  • Interest in acquiring investment performance measurement knowledge and CFA designation.
