Calix is looking for a Data Analyst intern for the Calix Cloud team. Focus of this role will be on Data Visualization, Dashboarding & Data Modeling, including the development of visual representations of data combining industry-proven best practices with ingenuity to produce compelling data stories that will help our customers make rapid data-driven decisions. You will get to solve highly analytical problems that have a direct and considerable impact on Calix Cloud platform services.

The role is cross-functional, allowing you to work with multiple product and engineering teams across Calix Cloud including Marketing Cloud and Support Cloud. You’ll get a deep insight into all of our efforts as we seek to transform and optimize the business models of communication service providers (CSPs) of all sizes by leveraging the power of Big Data. We are looking for students to work remotely in the US or Canada and join us full-time in the Summer months.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze network, system, device and subscriber behavioral data to generate insights that are delivered through role specific self-service dashboards in Calix Cloud. 

  • Develop and implement data models for data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality 

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets 

  • Design and implement reporting dashboards that track key metrics and performance trends and provide actionable insights. 

  • Dive into data to find trends and patterns in large datasets and theorize ways to exploit those trends. 

  • Develop data visualizations that illustrate complex platform phenomena using Qlik. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with large datasets, joining data from multiple sources 

  • Technical expertise regarding data models, data mining and segmentation techniques 

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Qlik), databases (SQL), and programming (Python/Java) 

  • Excellent command of SQL and experience working with Big Data 

  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel) 

  • Expert in building relationships and collaborating in a matrixed environment 

  • Progress in BS/MS in Business, Economics, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or equivalent experience
