As a Data Analyst Manager at Amplify, you will lead a talented team who seeks empirical answers to crucial questions about Amplify’s customers, operations, finances and products. You’ll play an active role in using data to inform business strategy, and product development. In doing so, you will have an impact on the lives of millions of students across the globe.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a talented and passionate Data Analyst Manager to lead our Data Analytics team. Our Data Analytics teams build reporting frameworks and narratives that drive strategic decisions across every department at Amplify.

This is a key leadership role responsible for the development and support of data analysts within the data department to ensure the group as a whole serves as a successful partner to stakeholders across product lines and business units to solve analytical problems. This individual will develop, implement, and facilitate analytics strategy, roadmap development and the future development of our analytics technology stack.

  • Technical Leadership: Collaboratively guide your team to be innovative and select appropriate tools, technologies, and strategies.

  • Technical Guidance: Coach the team on advanced analysis techniques, building data models for reporting, and development best practices

  • Execution: Work with a Product Manager to maintain a high-velocity, quality reporting delivery pipeline, from intake through final review.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Partner with the team’s Product Manager and key stakeholders to fully understand the current and future reporting needs which will guide the Analytics roadmap.

  • Delivery: Take responsibility for successful delivery against quarterly objectives, including leading your team in establishing best practices in estimation, requirements analysis, balancing trade offs, and executing against commitments.

  • People management: Provide technical leadership, career development, coaching, and mentoring for data analysts.

  • Strategy: Collaborate with business, product and tech leadership to drive business, product, and technical strategy and goals for your team.

Example Projects You Might Work On

  • Serve as a key architect for our migration onto a modern data stack by designing a strategy for leveraging published data sources in Tableau and directing the migration from existing data sources onto new published data sources.

  • Lead an evaluation of Business Intelligence platforms and recommend changes to our Business Intelligence and Data Analysis technical stack.

  • Create operational KPIs for the Data Analytics team, and establish rituals of monitoring and continuous improvement based on these KPIs. 

Basic Requirements of the Data Analyst Manager:

  • 5+ years of experience in a data analyst or related role.

  • 2+ years of experience as a technical team lead and a people manager.

  • Expertise in SQL and a demonstrated ability to develop team members SQL capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to turn vague business problems into projects which data analysis and business intelligence can address.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance project execution with long term technical investments.

  • Experience setting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators for Business Intelligence report usage and taking actions to increase utilization.

  • Experience designing and maintaining systems of reports including making decisions like: a new report should be created, an existing report should be extended, an existing report should be deprecated.

  • Excellent communication skills in writing and conversation, especially with non-technical partners.

  • Experience leading agile teams and rituals like Storytime, Story Splitting, Story Estimation, and Retrospectives.
     

Preferred Requirements of the Data Analyst Manager:

  • Experience working in the education technology field

  • Experience with Salesforce, Netsuite, Hubspot, TalkDesk, Intercom, and other SaaS-based business operations tools

 

What we offer:

Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a lucrative 401(k) plan, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross annualized salary range for this role is $125,000 - $145,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
