What You’ll Do:

The Business Data team centralizes, cleans and prepares the company’s internal business data in our data warehouse (Snowflake) to facilitate business decision-making.  The Business Data team maintains Business Intelligence tools (Tableau, potentially Looker) that facilitate quicker and automated reporting and analysis.  The team also provides support (documentation, training, coaching) for data analysts in key departments (Marketing, Operations, Customer Support, etc) to ensure that internal analysts are increasingly self-sufficient.  Your role within Business Data will be 50% hand-on analysis and 50% team management.  You will:

    • Creating  process models, specifications, diagrams, and other documentation as needed to support stakeholder and developer conversations

    • Using elements of Agile, Kanban and Waterfall project management as appropriate

  • Ensure the business is making informed decisions based on high quality data.  You will do this via Quality Assurance:

    • Performing extensive quality assurance tests (via SQL or Tableau) for the data warehouse development and reporting datasets

    • Owning responsibility for overall accuracy of data quality of business data in the datawarehouse and BI pipeline

    • Collaborating  with Product Owners, Analysts and Managers to surface, resolve and communicate data quality and data governance issues.  Includes managing cross-team solutions to data quality issues.

    • Maintaining ad hoc datasets for BI reporting

  • Ensure that analysts can easily access the data they need.  You will do this via User Training and Support

    • Maintaining the data dictionary for users

    • Documenting additions and changes to the data pipeline

    • Providing new user onboard training for Tableau and how to access the data warehouse

Example Projects You Might Work On:

  • Preparing NetSuite data in the data warehouse for end-user analysis

  • Joining data across several systems (NetSuite, Salesforce) to provide a life-cycle view of the products purchased by customers

  • Providing solutions to key data governance issues (such as standardizing business definitions, finding relevant data) that will expand our capacity to do advanced reporting and analysis

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years related work experience (with an emphasis on analysis, data cleaning/reporting and small team/project management)
