What are we looking for?

In two years, WorkMoney’s membership has grown to include over 2 million everyday Americans. Our Data Science & Analytics team provides backbone data analysis and insights to teams engaging with members across multiple communications channels. As a department, our team is focused on creating dashboards and tools that help WorkMoney determine how meaningful and impactful our work is to our members. We build meaningful research, experimentation, a/b testing, continuous improvement, rigorous data analysis, and regular reporting to internal teams.

The Data Analyst position is a newly created role to centralize and streamline internal processes for data requests, data sharing, and reporting. A successful candidate will have a customer service orientation and interest in creating data reporting tools that are easy to understand and interpret. Someone who understands that digestible data visualizations are just as important as reliable and accurate data analysis will thrive in this role. Are you interested in creating beautiful dashboards for non-technical stakeholders? Are you looking for an opportunity to apply your data analytics skills to a cause that can make American families more economically secure? By helping to manage and improve our existing reporting and self-service data capabilities, our new Data Analyst will make reliable and insightful data outputs that will shape decisions about content and products that can improve the lives of everyday Americans.

Responsibilities

  • Create new dashboards to track key metrics: work closely with members of the Data team and across the org to understand the dashboards we have, what additional dashboards we want to create, and generate ideas on how to track and report on key metrics across all dashboards
  • Maintain dashboards and continuously improve data integrity: monitor metrics for key insights and anomalies, and collaborate with Data team colleagues to discern accuracy and fidelity of metrics
  • Respond to requests for reporting in a timely manner: when data requests are submitted to the Data team, clearly communicate with requestees when they can expect a response; in addition, make improvements to the existing process for data requests to increase efficiency
  • Communicate insights out across the organization: provide regular updates to the team on key insights and metrics; in addition, generate new ideas for sharing and regularly communicating creative insights and stories from our dataset to colleagues
  • Help teach others how to use tools, interpret results and think about data: with support from the VP of Data Science & Analytics, develop content and visualizations for regular data walks with internal stakeholders to encourage team members to apply a data science approach to decision making and interpreting data

Must Haves

  • Ability to analyze and communicate data in accessible and actionable ways
  • Experience creating clear and insightful dashboards with Tableau, Looker, Metabase or other visualization platform
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Ability to tell stories through data and translate for non-technical audiences
  • Self-motivated and intellectually curious - driven by the desire to learn
  • An eye for design and attention to detail

Nice to Haves

  • Knowledge of Python, R or other data programming language
  • ETL and data cleaning experience
  • Experience with advocacy, legislative or electoral campaign data
