Why We’re Hiring A Director of Analytics

In our first two years of operation, our analytics team members have built incredible relationships across the org, to partner and provide data insights on a number of projects. As the organization continues to scale, now is an opportune time to scale how we work and serve the organization’s growing analytics needs. This role will add an important layer of leadership for our analytics function to ensure the team can operate proactively and strategically, in addition to reacting to the myriad of requests across the org.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

WorkMoney is looking for an experienced Director of Analytics to oversee the data analytics function and elevate the team’s ability to operate in more effective and structured ways. This role will be responsible for managing a team of analysts, improving workflows and processes, and overseeing the development of data-driven insights that help us better understand our members and increase our impact. This is a hands-on leadership role that will require people management, project management, and high impact individual contributor duties.

The Director of Analytics will report to the VP of Data Science & Analytics and work closely with cross-functional teams including Digital Engagement, Product, and Advocacy. A successful candidate will:

  • Define and prioritize multiple data projects simultaneously, balancing competing demands on resources and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate by working closely with other departments to gather requirements and ensure data accuracy, identify key metrics, and deliver impactful insights.
  • Identify key business questions with stakeholders and develop insights that drive business outcomes.
  • Communicate complex data insights and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Continuously improve data integrity by monitoring metrics for key insights and anomalies, and collaborating with colleagues to discern accuracy and fidelity of metrics.
  • Establish and maintain data governance and data quality by developing and maintaining processes and procedures that ensure the accuracy and integrity of our data.
  • Mentor and coach team members to help them develop their skills and achieve their goals.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

WorkMoney is still a young organization and the right candidate understands how to position a growing analytics team for success. We’ll need you to lead the team through a transition or sorts: from our tried and true way of working that was suitable for a smaller organization with a handful of big projects; to an approach that optimizes our output for a larger matrixed organization with multiple complex impact goals. Other important must haves are:

  • Extensive experience in data analytics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing and mentoring a team of analysts
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to both influence cross-functional teams and advocate for your team to ensure they have the resources and support they need to be successful
  • Proficiency with data analytics tools and techniques, including SQL and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, Metabase)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Comfortability working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Passion for using data to drive impact and improve the lives of everyday Americans

We’re proud to offer generous benefits like competitive pay, expansive paid time off options, and employer contributions to retirement and student loan repayment. WorkMoney covers the premiums for healthcare, dental, and vision plans so you don’t have to, offers a 6% 401K employer match, four weeks paid vacation, generous paid family and medical leave, and annual allowances for remote work and professional development.

The salary for this role is $140,000 annually and as part of our commitment to pay transparency and equity in our organization, the salary for this position is not negotiable.
