Data Analytics Engineer

Smartsheet is looking for a Data Analytics Engineer to be responsible for the structure, design, and operations of the Plan Insights team enrichment tables, to ensure data accessibility and efficiency for stakeholders across Smartsheet.

The Data Analytics Engineer will implement an efficient/scalable system of schemas and tables to optimize transforming data from its raw form in Snowflake, into clean and documented datasets for use by analytics stakeholders. Working with the BI team, the engineer will ensure the team has the required data in the proper format to be ingested into a variety of customer data platforms.

This full-time position reports to the BI Operations Manager and is based in Smartsheet’s corporate offices in Bellevue, WA, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

  • Develop enriched tables in Snowflake to streamline operations, inform strategic priorities, and develop product insights
  • Keep a close eye on usage of the self-service products and engage in activities (socialization, documentation, etc.) designed to increase usage
  • Create and contribute to data frameworks that improve logging data, while working with data infrastructure engineers to identify and resolve issues
  • Provide proper data accessibility and guidelines to analyst teams outside of BI
  • Collaborate with BI team members in the creation of enrichments and data products
  • Create and implement data testing plans, encompassing data validation, data quality assessment, and regression testing, to identify anomalies, inconsistencies, or errors in produced datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess data privacy needs and define data masking strategies aligned with industry compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).

You Have:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Advanced SQL knowledge and working with Cloud columnar databases (Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake)
  • Familiarity with processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management (data pipeline orchestration, airflow, dbt core, gitlab scheduler, prefect)
  • Experience with building and maintaining semantic layers and self-service technologies for non-technical end-user use
  • Familiarity with self-serve product analytics tools (Segment, Amplitude, Mixpanel,etc) 
  • Production experience working with dbt and designing and implementing Data Warehouse solutions
  • Familiarity with AWS solutions such as S3, EC2, VPC [[not super necessary]]
  • Knowledge of standard code management solutions (Gitlab)

Smartsheet provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $118,800-$172,800 All other US States: $110,000-$160,000
