Smartsheet is looking for an experienced Director of Data Science and Business Intelligence to help guide our growth. With thousands of subscribing organizations and millions of users you will have a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact across Smartsheet's business.
You will report to our VP of Data Science and Business Intelligence located in our Bellevue, WA office. You also have the option to work remotely from any Smartsheet registered location within the U.S.
You will:
- Lead teams of BI analysts and data scientists to enable data-driven discovery, data self-serve and data insights for Product/ Engineering and data science function. In particular, this role will drive product-led growth (PLG) analytics, drive experimentation and product embedded data science initiatives. This person will collaborate and scale best practices for data science work including ML ops.
- Understand Smartsheet's business model, identify strategic insights, inform leadership, and recommend execution plans against analytical insights
- Ensure continued development of business intelligence foundation, including including standardized tools, report standardization, automation and decision-support capabilities
- Work at the intersection of business and with the data platform team to ensure support for all Machine Learning initiatives across the lifecycle, from inception, conception to development and production
- Develop cross-team relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure we are meeting existing analytics needs and prepared to meet the needs of the future
- Lead strategic analytics initiatives and present insights to key stakeholders to drive actions and impact
- Influence investment decisions by supporting the ongoing strategic planning process
- Hire, develop and coach a team of talented data, BI and analytics professionals
- Understanding and experience in product analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude)
- Support other duties as needed
You have:
- 10+ years of prior experience architecting Business Intelligence and Machine Learning analytics Solutions. Senior level candidates are encouraged to apply and adjustments to role/level will be made as appropriate
- 7+ years of people management/management consulting experience or similar relevant industry experience including leading an analytics shop
- Critical thinking with analytical & financial skills; strong sense for business success
- Excellent problem structuring, identification and resolution; Ability to synthesize complex issues into easy to understand concepts
- Experience structuring executive presentations with the appropriate level of storytelling, visuals and data analysis
- Hands-on experience in statistics, machine learning languages (e.g., Python and R) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau)
- Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries
- MBA or equivalent experience

Smartsheet provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $205,200 to $280,800 | All other US States: $190,000 to $260,000
