ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF):

This position is part of an elite team of data SMEs within Enterprise Business Analytics that ensures the delivery of critical data for reporting, analytics & modeling used to enable faster decision-making and better understanding of KeyBank clients. The team responsibilities include:

  • Making it easy for analytic, modeling & reporting team to find, understand and use data assets
  • Aggregating disparate data sets into one cohesive asset which can answer business and analytical questions
  • Developing KPIs in conjunction with business and analytics partners and finding the data needed to report on those KPIs
  • Preparing for and managing changes in the data landscape
  • Building reporting assets so recurring business and analytical questions can be answered quickly and efficiently

The Senior data & Business Intelligence Associate is primarily responsible for building data and reporting assets that combine a wide range of data sets to answer specific business questions. The associate is expected to engage with business and analytical partners across the full timeline of development, starting with requirements gathering and documentation; solution design, documentation, and validation; and presenting the solution to the end users. This process requires the associate to translate business needs into actionable data requirements, building against those requirements, and translating the result back to the business. A number of tools are used to build the data and reporting assets including SQL, SSIS, SAS, GCP BigQuery, Python, Tableau, and Cognos. Success criteria include: leveraging critical thinking, technical expertise, and anticipation of business needs from technology and business partners to provide reporting and analysis or implement process improvements; leading conversations with business partners and effectively communicate with all stakeholders; and providing solutions based on an understanding of impacts / intersections with other business partners and lines of business.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide moderate to more complex analysis and reports, leveraging critical thinking and business acumen to source and translate data into business intelligence insights, reports, and analysis that answer business problems
  • Collaborate and lead conversations with business and technology partners to identify and understand analytic / business needs
  • Automate and standardize data sets for analytical, modeling, and business partner end users by
    • Translating requirements into concrete data elements
    • Architecting robust data structures that will meet documented requirements
    • Developing process flows and standard work instructions
    • Recommending solutions and presenting findings to stakeholders
  • Make process improvement suggestions
  • Create and manage Agile Kanban cards to create transparency around work in process
  • Effectively communicate key points to respective stakeholders, with the right amount of detail
  • Develop relationships as a trusted advisor for analytics, modeling and reporting teams across the enterprise
  • Review work product of junior staff; provide input, direction, and mentorship


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Statistics (or other related field)  with at least 4 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Statistics (or other related field) with at least 6 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in:
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint
    • Intermediate/advanced query writing/coding including complex joins
    • Intermediate/advanced data visualization
    • Analytical programming languages
    • Report and process automation
  • Knowledge or Skill in:
    • Source systems
    • Process flow creation and documentation
    • Project management
    • Navigation of data warehouse and/or data supply chain
    • Analytical; Synthesizes complex or diverse information
    • Problem Solving

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $66,300 to $123,100 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
