VetsEZ is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will work remotely and will be responsible for managing and optimizing large-scale data systems, supporting data integration and transformation, and ensuring data quality and accessibility. This role requires strong technical expertise in database management, data pipelines, and data warehousing solutions.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems.
  • Optimize and manage large, complex datasets to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing.
  • Implement and maintain data integration solutions to support various data sources and formats.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through regular data cleaning, validation, and monitoring processes.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to support their data needs and improve data workflows.
  • Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to streamline data ingestion and transformation.
  • Implement data governance and security best practices to protect sensitive information.
  • Support data visualization and reporting needs by preparing and optimizing data for analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Provide recommendations on data architecture and infrastructure improvements to enhance system performance and scalability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, database management, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
  • Experience with big data technologies and frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes and data integration techniques.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and solutions (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and their data integration capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust security clearance.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in the VA or other health-related organization desired.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application in data engineering.
  • Prior experience working in a government or healthcare environment.
  • Active VA Public Trust security clearance.
