Job summary
The Prime Video team is shaping the future of digital video entertainment. Our mission is to offer customers the widest selection of digital video content including Amazon Originals and Live Sports and make it trivially easy for them to enjoy it wherever and whenever they want.

The X-Ray team's mission is to help customers further immerse in the Movies, TV, and Live Sports they love to watch by answering burning questions like 'Who's that Actor?', 'What's that song?' or 'What was the call on that last play?' To help us fulfill this mission, we are looking for a customer-obsessed r data engineer with proven experience to help our team answer hard questions by leveraging massive datasets. You'll work cross-functionally with business intelligence, product, and engineering teams to build scalable infrastructure and data solutions. You will apply cloud-based AWS services to solve challenging problems around: big data processing, data warehouse design, and enabling self-service. You will focus on automation and optimization for all areas of Data Lake/ETL maintenance and deployment. This role is unique high impact going both broad and deep - you will have the opportunity to work with cross-cutting datasets across Prime Video while also becoming an expert on specific areas of the business.



Key job responsibilities
Basic qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
Experience in SQL
3+ years of experience in the field of data engineering
Expertise in the design, creation and management of large datasets/data models.
Ability to write high quality, maintainable, and robust code, often in SQL, Scala and Python.
Demonstrated strength in data modeling - understanding of 3NF, Star Schema, etc.
Experience/Exposure using big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Spark, EMR, etc.)

Preferred qualifications:
Passion for Entertainment (movies, tv, live sports)
Masters or Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or a related discipline
Experience with Amazon Redshift
Experience in scripting languages
Experience working with business owners to define key business requirements and convert to technical specification
Familiarity with solutions such as AWS, EC2, S3, or DynamoDB
Experience working in a UNIX/LINUX environment
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with business owners to convert key business requirements into technical specifications
Key Responsibilities:

Owning writing high quality, maintainable SQL on large datasets
Ability to write code in Python, Ruby, Scala or other platform-related Big data technology
Liaise with Business Leaders and Analytics team members to solve for scale and automation
Own The AWS Infrastructure for Prime Video
Design, creation and management of large datasets/data models
Experience/Exposure using big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Spark, EMR, etc.)
Working on building /optimizing logical data model and data pipelines while delivering high data quality solutions that are testable and adhere to SLAs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
