YOUR ROLE
If you like to solve tough problems and be on the cutting edge of an industry, the Data Engineer position at Bold Penguin is for you. You’ll be working with our data engineering teams to solve data-oriented problems in insurance that will fundamentally change the way small business owners shop, quote, and bind commercial insurance. Your work will be end user-facing in a production environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Work with Data Analysts and Data scientists to create connections to data sources, including parsing and extraction of data across myriads of data sources.
Identify enhancements to parallel processing and search pipelines.
Identify enhancements to processing pipelines for large data processing tasks.
Build APIs using microservices architectures with either AWS and/or Cloud Native Computing
Foundation toolkit.
Turn around production defects to exceed SLAs
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of parallel computing and search techniques for transferring and processing large datasets.
Hands-on experience developing APIs using a microservices architecture in either Java, Scala, Python, or NodeJS.
Solid knowledge of document-centric databases e.g. MongoDB as well as relational databases e.g. Postgress.
Knowledge of working in a CICD built on AWS Native services and/or Cloud Native Computing Foundation tools.
Demonstrate excellent written communication skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment.
Must have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering with 3+ years of experience specifically in data engineering roles.
