In your role as a SQL Data Engineer on the Business Intelligence team, you will leverage the power of SQL, PL/SQL , and/or other tools to build assets that enables our firm to translate data into strategic currency. You will work closely with operation personnel across engineering, finance, marketing, account management, and sales to ensure underlying data assets exist to be leveraged for equipping them with the right intelligence to objectively move the business forward. You will be a champion of applying the best development practices when performing SQL programming within our Data Warehouse and automating ETL jobs leveraging Python or other scripting technologies. Your work will be very challenging, but extremely meaningful as you’ll have a direct impact on the success of Bold Penguin and its partners.

Partner closely with various business groups to capture data requirements and then create unique solutions from those requirements

Perform advanced SQL programming within AWS Redshift to design fact tables and update existing database assets (SPROCs, functions, table/view DDL, scripts) that are required to solve complex problems

Exhibit the utmost scrutiny to ensure data accuracy and apply meticulous aesthetic attention to detail in your work

Utilize Python, R, Cron, Code Pipeline, and other BI tools to create AI solutions that will extinguish operational pain points

3+ years of relevant experience performing advanced database scripting

Undergraduate degree in a data-focused discipline (Actuarial Science, Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics) preferred

Advanced SQL knowledge required

Experience with relational databases, preferably Redshift or PostgreSQL required

Excellent communication skills with high attention to detail required

Experience with requirements gathering and solution design required

You should be a self-starter and able to work in an extremely fast pace environment while juggling simultaneous initiatives and meeting strict deadlines

Bonus points for experience with one or more data science tools (R/SPSS/SAS/JMP) or experience with Python
