About the Role

Suma is seeking a versatile ‘full stack’ data engineer to build and manage our data infrastructure. Our platform relies and thrives on robust data, and this critical role is at the center of it all. In role you’ll lead big projects, integrate data from a variety of sources, transform data for use, and manage the databases and tools that power the business. You will be a key partner to teams across the company, assuring they have the information they need to make the best decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead data architecture decisions, design and build scalable infrastructure to provide teams seamless access to data and insights
• Build and maintain data pipelines, extracting, preparing, and ingesting data from a variety of sources
• Extract data from various databases for analysis, set up ETLs to ready data for efficient access
• Design efficient data housing, transformation and querying (Redshift, SQL)
• Implement and overseeing business intelligence software to serve end users
• Work closely with teams across the company to meet their data needs; play a key role in institutionalizing a data driven culture

Requirements

• 4+ years experience in data engineering or Business Intelligence role
• Resilient, detail oriented, self-starter
• Expert at query writing and ETL creation
• Skilled at processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis; technical familiarity with data models and database design development
• Experience with common BI tools such as Power BI or Looker
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize and analyze large amounts of data
• Familiarity with common statistical models; experience with R or python a plus
• BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
