As a Data Engineering and Analytics Manager, you will lead our data engineering and analytics engineering efforts. This role is pivotal in advancing our data maturity, building robust data infrastructure, and delivering actionable insights to support business and product decisions. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our data initiatives align with our strategic objectives.


While you’re a leader, you’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves and diving into the details hands-on when necessary. You’ll provide technical leadership and feedback to senior and lead individual contributors, and ensure that Thrive is using the right tools and processes for a robust infrastructure stack.

How You'll Contribute:

  • Lead a team of talented data & analytics engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support as a player-coach to ensure the team's success and alignment with product goals and Thrive’s vision and mission.

  • Design and develop features to improve the capabilities, robustness, accuracy and overall performance of our data analytics pipeline

  • Work collaboratively and foster strong relationships with Product, Engineering, Product Analytics, and Data Science to ensure product KPIs are reliable, accurate, and factored into the accuracy of the models produced and leveraged by the Thrive product.

  • Articulate the data engineering vision and strategy to internal teams and stakeholders through effective storytelling and presentations.

Must Haves:

  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing high-impact data and analytics engineering projects. This includes overseeing project lifecycles, driving strategic initiatives, and mentoring technical teams to achieve project goals.

  • Demonstrated expertise in modern data stack components and infrastructure. Our technology stack includes BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Segment, Dagster, dbt, Kubernetes, and Airbyte. Familiarity with alternative tools is also valued. 

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python is essential.

  • Extensive experience in data modeling, including star-schema and events-based modeling, preferably using dbt.

  • Proven ability to ensure data reliability, accuracy, and security. This includes implementing data governance best practices, creating and maintaining data quality standards, monitoring data pipelines, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

  • Ability to lead communications across multiple levels, from detailed technical designs and requirements with engineering to product initiatives with key business stakeholders.

Compensation for this role depends on level, and will likely fall in the range of $183,000 - $250,000  We provide a competitive mix of salary, performance bonus, and equity
