We’re growing and we are looking to add a Data Science Manager to our fast-paced and customer-oriented Engineering team.
We are looking for someone who can lead a team of data scientists and ML engineers and advance the craft of data science at Jungle Scout.
Our core product offering depends on best-in-class models and data to drive insights for our customers.
This person will manage our core data science models around sales estimates and keyword search volume, which are the core value of our customer-facing products. They will also lead R&D for new models.

Day in the life of a Data Science Manager:
- Meet with the team to discuss the rollout of a new model
- Wrap up exploratory data analysis on a new dataset that could improve sales estimate accuracy
- Coach a machine learning engineer on their career development
- Start a Slack thread with the data engineering team to discuss a dataset they are producing for model training
- Run a sprint planning meeting or retrospective
- Give feedback on the results of a recent model training
- Share an update in Slack on an upcoming model release
Who you are:
- Experienced Data Science Manager: You have experience leading Senior+ Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.
- Full Model Lifecycle: You have experience managing the full model lifecycle, from conception to deploying models in production at scale (10m predictions/day).
- Technical: You have the ability and willingness to write SQL queries and build notebooks to dig into data and models
- Collaborative: You have experience collaborating closely with data engineering teams
- Metrics Development & Management: You have experience developing and managing metrics for input data and model performance.
- People Developer, Coach & Multiplier: You excel at developing others through daily interactions and formal growth plans, adapting your style to each team member and empowering them with visibility, responsibility, and decision-making opportunities.
- Strong Communicator & Empathetic: Your clear, timely feedback and empathetic listening make you the go-to leader for performance issues and tough conversations, effectively managing change and complex discussions.
- Leadership Mindset & Business Acumen: You translate big-picture strategies to your team, leveraging your deep knowledge of Jungle Scout’s operations and industry trends to drive team practices and education.
- Customer Focus: You prioritize delivering exceptional user experiences, driven by a commitment to meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
