Mothership is looking for our first Data Scientist to help better understand our carriers, identify how we can optimize our routes, elevate demand density and strengthen traffic recognition.
As the first Data Scientist, you will exude a passion for developing powerful mission-critical statistical and machine learning models, as your goal will ultimately be to investigate and develop a core strategy that will make us the strongest and fastest freight provider in the United States. In order to work cross-functionally across the organization, great communication and willingness to take risks and push boundaries will be required.
What You'll Do
- Make significant and early contributions to the direction and role of data science at Mothership
- Help the product and engineering teams make data-driven decisions
- Hands on work with geospatial data
- Design, implement, and evaluate A/B tests
- Build datasets and train machine learning models
- Build dashboards and data visualizations
- Work with and learn from leaders from all departments within the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent
- Experience working within a well-established organization or at a high-growth company
- Proficiency in data science, machine learning, descriptive and inferential statistics, and A/B testing
- Experience using statistical techniques to answer business questions and make data-driven decisions
- Ability to select, train, and evaluate machine learning models for a variety of use cases
- Ability to jump in and fix or extend open-source projects
- Excellent communication skills, and ability to communicate complex technical information to both professionals and non-specialists
