About the Department:

Reach Financial’s Risk and Decision Science team consists of a group of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Analytics Professionals covering all the business units and Business Intelligence Analysts.  We are passionate about data and cutting-edge technology. Our goal is to leverage the data to drive the business growth agenda. The Risk and Decision Science team works cross functionally with other business units to ideate, hypothesize, analyze and test, formalize, implement, maintain, and track progress for all initiatives.

About the Role:

We are looking for a gritty, curious, and collaborative Data Scientist to solve business problems using data. As a Data Scientist, you will use analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze and interpret large dataset. Then you will develop data-driven business solutions. This role will report to a Director of Data Science.

What You Will Do:

• Mine and analyze data from internal database and external vendor to optimize and improve business decisioning
• Research and evaluate model building techniques
• Develop predictive models to optimize various functions across the organization, including marketing, risk, and operations
• Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
• Work independently to create data-backed recommendations to help stakeholders make strategic business decisions

What You Should Have:

• Masters or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Operation Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant fields is required.
• 3+ years of experience extracting, cleaning, manipulating datasets and building statistical models.
• Experience in lending is required.
• Experience using Python to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
• Experience applying unsupervised and supervised machine learning algorithms: clustering, decision trees, regression, etc. Understand algorithms’ fundamentals, their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
• Experience applying advanced machine learning algorithms: boosting, ensembles, neural networks, gridsearch, etc. Understand algorithms’ fundamentals, their real-world advantages/drawbacks; have intuition on the best algo & hyperparameter to leverage.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Bonus experience in: unstructured data, BeautifulSoup, NLP, time-series modeling, RNN, AI.
