Healthcare needs good data. At PicnicHealth, we are building deep real-world datasets fueling cutting-edge research while giving patients control of their own medical record data. These complete, clinically-rich datasets produce unique insights — across dozens of diseases — to ultimately get the right treatments into patients’ hands faster. We do this by working directly with patients and leveraging state of the art machine learning to transform messy medical records into structured, research-ready datasets. To date we’ve helped tens of thousands of patients securely access their records and proactively contribute to advancing research in diseases that impacts their lives.

We’re excited to announce $60 million in funding in a Series C led by  B Capital Group. Our existing investors Felicis Ventures and Amplify Partners also joined the round, bringing the total we have raised to more than $100 million.

And we are just getting started! If you are looking to join an award winning, mission-driven, motivated team that is making a real impact across millions of people’s lives, PicnicHealth might just be the place for you.

The Opportunity

At PicnicHealth, Data Scientists on the Quantitative Research team are responsible for translating, assessing, and augmenting our Real World Data (RWD) to develop actionable insights and evidence for our life science partners. We’re seeking an experienced data scientist to join the team to deliver bespoke analytics, create internal and customer tools, and develop predictive models to improve our research data product.

As the Data Scientist  you will be responsible for:

  • Use PicnicHealth’s large, multi-disease multi-modal real-world dataset to answer critical clinical questions;
  • Become a subject matter expert on our data and its capabilities. Lead technical initiatives that further our understanding of RWD and methods to generate real-world evidence;
  • Transform real-world clinical data into actionable insights using data analytics, robust statistical methods, and compelling data visualizations accessible to a wide range of end-users;
  • Work with a cross-functional team to define and clarify analytic requirements, develop analysis plans, ensure data quality standards, and create publication-ready methods and results;
  • Conduct research to assess our data quality, identifying gaps and proposing solutions.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external partners (including life science companies, regulatory agencies, academic institutions, and health technology assessment bodies) to advance the integration of our analytic products, including through peer reviewed scientific publications.
  • Help continue to build a world-class [function] team, by helping attract, interview, and onboard your future team members during this exciting time of growth.

You are a great fit if you:

  • Hold a degree in a quantitative discipline, such as biostatistics, epidemiology, applied statistics, health economics, or a related discipline
  • Have least 2 years of industry experience in a quantitative/statistical position in the life sciences industry
  • Advanced experience with R (tidyverse) and preferably have built an R package before
  • Have experience working with medical data, longitudinal EMR data, and/or data ontologies (OMOP, etc.)
  • Are an excellent communicator, both oral and written, and can effectively adapt your tone, content, and approach to diverse audiences
  • Know how to balance attention to detail with execution against tight timelines. You are passionate about our patient-centric mission to improve healthcare for all

We expect all team members to be motivated to be amazing in their roles and, ultimately, to move the PicnicHealth mission forward.
