Data Scientist - Forecasting & Attribution

ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

We are looking for an Economist with a background in time series forecasting to support our demand models for our marketplace and ecommerce businesses. Our marketplace connects over 2 million engaged couples with +50,000 local wedding vendors (e.g. Venue, DJ, Florist, etc.) across the US each year while our ecommerce businesses help couples create their registry, connect with their guests and utilize our paper invitation offerings.

This role will work closely with our Data Scientists, Data Analysts and business teams including our marketing specialists. You should have experience and a curiosity to develop yourself around forecasting techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement statistical, machine learning, and hybrid time series forecasting models, particularly within a hierarchical context 
• Identify drivers of value creation
• Create data solutions for ambiguous business problems
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts to drive end-to-end success of your solutions
• Communicate the value of your work to a broad audience, both business and technical

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:

• Ph.D. in Economics and 2+ years of experience
• Proficiency at either Python or R
• Proficiency in key statistical and machine learning techniques (predictive modeling, classification, forecasting, and other advanced techniques)
• Experience building time series forecasting models leveraging machine learning, statistical, econometric, and/or hybrid models
• Ability to communicate effectively and influence others
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and shift gears quickly.
