Crisis Text Line is free, 24/7 support for those in crisis, available in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Ireland. In the U.S., text 741741 to connect with a trained Crisis Counselor. With over 6 million conversations and 200 million messages exchanged with people in crisis to-date, we’re growing quickly, but so is the need.
Our Data Team is looking for a curious and thorough Data Scientist to collaborate with our Marketing and Communications Team to gather and analyze data, study industry trends, and articulate insights to inform opportunities for reaching more volunteers and people in crisis. Using complex datasets, you will build tools and communicate analytical insights that will guide decision making around marketing strategies and tactics.
The ideal candidate in this role has a natural analytical way of thinking and feels comfortable explaining their rationale to key stakeholders.
What you will be doing:
- Provide data informed expertise to the marketing and communications team to improve texter, volunteer, and partner-facing engagement. This includes defining metrics, performing deep analysis, setting up tools to track impact, and distilling clear, relevant insights.
- Implement and analyze A/B tests to understand the impact of marketing efforts
- Work with the marketing and communications team to understand our needs, evaluate strategies, and support the goal-setting process
- Produce monthly marketing performance report
- Conduct NLP research to identify SEO and SEM trends and tactics
- Assist in managing the backend of the corporate website and performing regular technical updates through WordPress

You have:
- 2+ years of experience in a Data Science / Analytics role
- Proficient in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Ads
- Experience with statistical modeling and data science techniques like A/B testing, NLP, and statistical inference.
- Familiarity with dashboard tools like Periscope, Looker, or Tableau
- Intermediate skills in SQL
- Preferred familiarity with Python or R
- Ability to understand and articulate market trends and marketing performance metrics
