The US Claims Data Science team is looking for an MLOps expert to help us streamline model development, deployment, and monitoring for our growing portfolio of models.

Data scientists will find boundless opportunities to help our business in claims: we use computer vision, natural language processing, network models, and cutting-edge technology to bring AI solutions and other predictive models to our claims operations, which have over 7,000 employees and spend roughly 70% of premium on losses and loss adjustment expenses.

Of course, MLOps in this space is complex: to deliver models to market we partner closely with data engineers, product owners, software developers and architects, an in-house incubator, and more. This role will work closely with the modelers on the data science team and thought-leaders on these partner teams to ensure efficient processes and smooth handoffs.

In addition to the responsibilities below, you will:

  •  Work with data engineers and model deployment engineers to ensure that features used in model training will be available in production. Potentially guide our approach to populating a robust feature store.
  • Collaborate with modelers within the data science team to ensure that scoring code is as close to deployable as possible before handing-off to the deployment team. Potentially help modelers deploy code themselves.
  • Advise on tools and approaches for model monitoring, helping us monitor our portfolio as efficiently as possible.
  • Stay abreast of new developments in the rapidly-evolving space of MLOps and help the team adopt new tools and processes as appropriate.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with data engineers, product owners, and architects.

Responsibilities:

  • Researches and develops predictive analytic tools.
  • Leverages knowledge to create/design solutions for business needs.
  • Mines large data sets using sophisticated analytical techniques to generate insights and inform business decisions.
  • Identifies and tests hypotheses, ensuring statistical significance, and builds predictive models for business application.
  • Translates quantitative analyses and findings into accessible visuals for non-technical audiences, providing a clear view into interpreting the data.
  • Enables the business to make clear tradeoffs between and among choices, with a reasonable view into likely outcomes.
  • Customizes analytic solutions to specific client needs.
  • Responsible for larger components of projects of moderate to high complexity.
  • Guides aspects of project design as a technical consultant for the team.
  • Regularly engages with the data science community and participates in cross functional working groups.
