GRM Actuarial – Global Non-Price Predictive Modeling (NPPM) is searching for a highly motivated Director II, Data Science who is eager to make an impact on the very complex and evolving global insurance industry. As the manager of the Western European Market (WEM) NPPM team, you will provide analytical direction for a team of data scientists across Spain, Portugal and Ireland. You and your team will develop, integrate and champion the use of predictive models and analytical tools to enable data-driven decision making and help Western European Market achieve their profitability and growth goals. This role requires broad knowledge of predictive modeling techniques, and advanced application of those techniques to a variety of business issues. This is a highly visible role that will connect often with WEM leadership, senior management and other groups across Liberty Mutual. You will provide analytical assessments of business issues and recommendations to management and a mixture of technical and non-technical audiences so good communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspire, manage, coach and develop a team of up to nine data scientists located in Spain, Portugal and  Ireland.
  • Collaborate with business partners in WEM to develop and adapt statistical approaches, models and tools to meet market conditions, drive strategic decision making, and address problems facing the operations.
  • Understand the competitive marketplace, business issues, and data challenges in WEM to deliver actionable insights, recommendations and improve business processes.
  • Supervise, develop, implement and monitor a variety of modeling solutions to complex problems that drive change across WEM.
  • Present findings, share insights, and make recommendations to WEM Leadership that impact profitability, growth and/or customer satisfaction. 
  • Effectively communicate results, insights and recommendations in written, oral and presentation formats to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Regularly engage with LM data science community and cross-functional working groups.
  • Expected global travel: 10-20%
