Who You Are: 

We are seeking a Director of Analytics who brings exceptional leadership and strategic experience to lead our team of high performing data analysts. You will be responsible for developing our behavioral analytics strategy (event-based analytics) and building the systems and processes required to deliver a data-differentiated product.  

You will partner with teams such as Data Engineering, Data Science, and Product to drive customer-facing value. You will coach your own team on how to think about strategic data collection and data processing to drive insights for their respective product partners. This is a highly strategic role however, also requires the willingness to execute and operate within a start-up environment.

This role can be based out of the Washington, DC metropolitan area or can be remote, anywhere in the US.    

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide mentorship and promote growth and autonomy to the analytics team, working with each member to develop individual growth plans that connect organizational needs and individual strengths and aspirations.   
  • Drive accountability for the analytics team while promoting a culture of learning and agility.
  • Bring your thought leadership and deep knowledge of the data space to collaborate with leadership and develop a data strategy that aligns to larger product and company goals.
  • Translate the data strategy into a tangible execution plan by defining clear KPIs and objectives for the team to deliver against.
  • Leverage shared data engineering and data science resources to streamline the delivery of analytics & insights.
  • Identify third party data solutions for product gaps and deliver a plan for the acquisition and processing of it.
  • Identify inefficiencies within analytics processing and tooling and work with stakeholders to align and execute against solutions, promoting industry best practices in data delivery and uptime.

What You Bring to the Table:

Required

  • Minimum of eight (8)+ years’ experience in behavioral analytics, data science, analytics operations at scale OR Master’s degree in related technical field (engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics, finance etc.) AND five (5)+ years’ experience in analytics operations, behavioral analytics, data science.
  • Minimum of four (3)+ years of management experience; able to coach and manage in a matrix reporting environment.
  • Excellent team leadership and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize multiple demands and projects.
  • Strong technical and business acumen with ability to drive change in a distributed environment through influence and excellent communication skills.
  • Working technical knowledge of SQL, Python, and/or R.

Preferred

  • Working technical knowledge of dbt, github.
  • Experience working in a startup environment.
  • Prior experience in the SAAS industry.
  • The ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Results-driven with demonstrated successful outcomes.
  • Ability and desire to work well with diverse employees and customers in a cooperative and friendly manner. 
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Competitive and fair compensation: We believe in fair pay--equal pay for equal work. For each title, we consistently apply competitive salary bands based on market data and benchmarks which are reviewed twice a year. What you’ve been paid before, fear of conflict, or willingness to negotiate does not play a part in determining your pay.
    • The annual base salary range for this position is $158,000 - $186,000. Placement within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members. Total compensation for this position includes an annual performance bonus and equity

  • 401(k) retirement plan: We offer both a Traditional and Roth 401(k) with a company match.
