Who we are

We are a climate tech company committed to reversing climate change. How do we reach this lofty goal? By disrupting the agriculture industry!

Founded by globally-recognized innovators in science and ag technology, Regrow is unlocking the power and profitability of resilient agriculture across the supply chain — from growers to global food brands. Regrow combines best-in-class agronomy, soil and carbon modeling, and innovative data collection to deliver customized, site-specific and scalable solutions to the agrifood industry.

Our customers are frontrunners in agrifood and agtech, ranging from global market operators, project developers, global food brands, and independent farmers. We help partners measure their impact on the environment, model and implement changes that will be environmentally and financially sustainable, and track partners’ progress against sustainability goals.

We're backed by leading investors, such as Microsoft's Venture Fund, Cargill, The Grantham Environmental Trust (NCO), AJAX Strategies, and more, all of whom believe in our vision to change the world through resilient agriculture.

Our Mission

Agriculture has the power to reverse climate change. We believe science and technology can help us get there.

Our goal is to use farmland to cool the earth. We are currently monitoring 150 million acres of land in over 45 countries. This year alone, with just one project, our carbon emissions reductions are equivalent to taking 17,000 cars off the road! We are already on our way to a more sustainable planet.

Check us out on TEDx and TechCrunch for a preview of what we can do for our customers.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join regrow as a team lead and apply their skill/expertise to help us accelerate the digital agriculture revolution on a globally.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist with and coordinate the planning, design, and execution of all project deliverables across multiple simultaneous work-streams in support of programs reliant on remote sensing and data science.
  • Help align and coordinate the work of the Global Data Science and Remote Sensing science team to develop and implement algorithms that will help improve detection of crop and soil management practices, and drive the mechanistic models like APSIM and DNDC nationally and internationally.
  • Coordinate work effort between all dependent groups (including external research partners), teams, and tasks around remote sensing programs.
  • Manage product-related remote sensing and data analysis requests, and other support tasks to ensure timely execution of activities through solution acceptance by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Execute planning, status, and ad-hoc meetings for remote sensing team as required; keep project documentation for all initiatives and track and communicate risks and issues and execute mitigating steps, as necessary.
  • Provide advice and recommendations on the following: the effective use of available resources, enhanced control of the scope of work, recommendations regarding various architectural solutions across modeling tools, and product delivery methods suitable for each project or program, optimal project scheduling options, enhanced modeling outcomes (accuracy, uncertainty).
  • Analyze data and user needs to determine functional and cross-functional requirements.
  • Provides management oversight across multiple simultaneous projects or project tracts within remote sensing program.
  • Lead the Remote sensing team with the goal to research, develop and implement the algorithms to:
    • detect and map field boundaries, crop types, rotations, and agricultural practices (planting, harvest).
    • monitoring crop development and crop performance, including identifying crop growth stages.
tracking crop stress and detecting areas where the yield damage is likely to occur early in the season.
    • provide mechanistic crop models (APSIM, and DNDC) with required input parameters based on crop and soil remote sensing.
  • Lead the research into multi-sensor remote sensing methods for consistent decision support and product availability globally.
  • Oversee and as required, analyze large remotely sensed, geospatial datasets for agriculture and rangeland applications to produce reports that address customers' needs; automate the reporting that is being requested multiple times.
  • Work closely with engineering and provide scalable inputs to parametrize the environmental, mechanistic models to scale internationally.
  • Liaise with selected customers on the topics related to crop and soil remote sensing.
  • Assist with the development of case studies and reports by providing insight into the agricultural interpretation of remote sensing products.

Your Background:

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D Degree in remote sensing, environmental science, natural resources, computer science, or related fields.
  • Strong experience with remote sensing of crops in the context of agricultural applications, preferably international.
  • Strong team leadership experience and capabilities to manage a team with a variety of backgrounds, including software engineers, scientists, and business teams.
  • Desire to be in equal parts manager and contributor.
  • The ability to translate your technical knowledge into insights accessible for our team and our customers.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python, knowledge of the software and product development life cycles, and experience developing applications independently, as well as in a team.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix, cloud computing
  • Experience with open-source geospatial libraries, e.g. GDAL, OGR, Fiona, Shapely
  • Extensive data analysis experience.

Who You Are:

  • You have a passion for delivering value to customers and solving messy real-world problems.
  • Experience and interest in agriculture, geography, process-based modeling.
  • Strong focus and desire to understand and meet customer needs, adjusting the models to meet the real-world requirements.
  • You can organize yourself and others in a globally structured environment.
