Handshake seeks an experienced, outcome-driven, and collaborative Head of Growth and Marketplace Analytics to establish a deep understanding of our users on all sides of the Handshake marketplace. You will develop and implement clear and actionable segmentations for our student and employer users based on their in-product actions and demands and inform targeted acquisition and retention strategies. You will partner closely with cross-functional leaders in product, engineering, sales, and data science, as well as your fellow Marketing leaders in driving the most impactful and valuable interactions and matches between our Student, Employer, and EDU users. You will partner with Growth Marketing to develop and optimize Handshake’s first multi-channel growth strategy based on the characteristic demographics and downstream value of various organic and paid channels. You will be the source of truth for the data narrative behind our public-facing announcements and content. You will build and grow Handshake’s first marketplace-level analytics team to enable all of the above and further accelerate our understanding and decision-making at the cross-marketplace level.
Develop and implement supply-and-demand-based segmentations for our student and employer users to inform personalized acquisition and retention effort by segment
Establish a clear understanding of the most impactful cross-marketplace actions and define both measurement and success based on their downstream impact
Work together with Product, Sales, BizOps, RevOps, and Marketing teams to drive the aforementioned impactful actions and create cross-functional programs that drive new customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
Build a culture of cross-marketplace experimentation for both product and marketing efforts to drive positive outcomes for both students and employers throughout their user journeys
Partner with Growth Marketing and Employer Marketing to develop and optimize a multi-channel growth strategy based on building a deep familiarity with the demographics and downstream value of each channel
Partner with Growth Marketing and Employer Marketing to measure and understand Handshake’s student and employer funnels, as well as identify opportunities for optimization.
Develop growth initiatives that leverage PMM insights into target student and employer segments to bring the right students and businesses into Handshake’s marketplace
Own the data narrative around our users and marketplace for external-facing communications and announcements
Build, coach, and grow a high-performing growth and marketplace analytics team that elevates those around you
6+ years of experience in marketing and/or growth analytics and/or data science in a fast-paced tech environment
3+ years of experience in building and managing a high-performing analytics team
Expert in SQL and in at least one business intelligence/data visualization tool (Looker, Tableau, Mode, Periscope, etc.); proficiency in performing quantitative analysis via at least one other language (Python, R) preferred
Experience in understanding the complexities of a multi-sided marketplace and balancing potential tradeoffs and conflicts across all sides
Hands-on experimentation experience involving the design, deployment, and implementation of actionable outcomes from individual experiments and the development and/or maintenance of a broader experimentation framework
A track record of successful communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical partners across multiple functions and teams to drive toward a common goal
A deep desire to better understand and serve users on all sides of the Handshake marketplace including students, employers, and EDU partners
A builder, excited to work in a fast-paced startup environment and craft a playbook to scale all facets of Handshake’s growth engine (strategy, team, and infrastructure)
