About the Team

Neutrino is a team of highly collaborative, engaged, and motivated technologists responsible for implementing core services that are leveraged by other teams at College Board through the lifecycle of a student assessment, from registration to score reporting.  We are a team of 9, who constantly seek out, experiment with, and harness new technologies to build quality products, with a singular purpose to deliver comprehensive assessments to the millions of students we serve. With the move towards digital administration of SAT and PSAT, our team continues to have new opportunities to work on challenging initiatives that are vital to the organization in support of our mission to connect students to college success and opportunity.

About the Opportunity

As a Lead Data Analyst on the Neutrino team, you are a leader, collaborator, and innovator with a keen focus on delivering exceptional quality.  You are a change catalyst with an ability to influence others as an advocate for best practices and the use of newer technologies.  You will leverage your excellent communication skills, working closely with Neutrino team members and cross-functionally with key business stakeholders and technology teams to support the organization’s efforts in the areas of enterprise data management and services.  Your ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment will enable you to become a subject matter expert in key aspects of College Board data, domains, and programs while you take a lead role on a range of projects in the full spectrum of information/data analysis and data governance.  This includes but is not limited to actively supporting strategic initiatives and projects requiring data expertise through analysis of data origin, data movement, reporting/analytics, and working with internal and external business groups in data requirements design.

You are independent and proactive with exceptional problem-solving skills.  You will be given very complex data-related problems and must solve them using a variety of technical and analytical skills, while documenting and standardizing the processes for these solutions.  You should be able to generate efficiencies and mitigate risk within the data management group through sound technical analysis and will generate value for the business by providing solutions to their business problems.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in multiple areas of College Board and education market data and use that expertise to support multiple College Board programs

  • Communicate and understand business goals and requirements, and work to create data solutions that add value to the business

  • Support technical project managers to ensure that all aspects of the information/data analysis and requirements gathering process are completed with the highest degree of accuracy and quality, including the development and socialization of key project artifacts

  • Develop and participate in the review of requirements, data mappings, user stories and other artifacts and clearly communicate to both the business and technical team members

  • Define, analyze and translate functional and non-functional business requirements into activity diagrams, source to target mappings, user stories and supplemental specifications

  • Demonstrate the ability to access data, analyze data, remediate data issues leveraging SQL and applicable AWS analytics tools

  • Help to manage the day-to-day program operations, including technical communications, triage, incident support, and operational delivery

  • Support ad hoc data requests within existing governance and security policies and best practices

  • Support a broad base of College Board users of the data and reporting platforms with excellent customer service and incident management skills

  • Directly oversee and mentor senior and junior analysts and the onboarding and development of contracting analysts

  • Actively participate in external staffing needs including the screening, evaluation and scheduling of candidates and providing feedback/decisions

About You

You have:

  • 9+ years’ experience in data management of enterprise-wide data

  • Significant knowledge and experience managing and executing data management initiatives, including data warehousing, provisioning, and business intelligence

  • Experience working with complex data sets required; working knowledge of education-related data a strong plus 

  • Strong experience with cloud technologies including AWS serverless development tools and architecture (Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, Athena)

  • Strong SQL experience

  • Understanding of business process modeling, data provisioning modeling, entity relationship modeling and dimensional modeling

  • Mastery of data management concepts and best practices

  • Understanding of Agile methodology with a willingness/ability to work in a DevOps environment

  • Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency, and drive

  • Experience in building frameworks and libraries from scratch

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MS or MBA highly desirable

  • We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact. The salary range for a new employee in this position is $88,000 to $150,000. The salary offer of an individual candidate within this range is specific to their location and qualifications.
