About the Opportunity
This Research Statistician I position is part of the Advanced Placement Psychometric team and will be responsible for supporting both operational and research psychometric work. You will have opportunities to innovate and help find new or improved ways to accomplish the tasks at hand. You will work individually and collaboratively with members of the team and the greater organization on operational data and statistical analyses, research discovery, documentation, procedures, reporting projects, and research projects.
In this role you will:
Statistical Analysis
Support operational work by performing standardized analyses
Support statistical analyses using large-scale internal data
Produce standard tables and graphical displays of large-scale statistical results
Produce data aggregations (descriptive statistics, correlation coefficients)
Write basic queries, programs, and generate reports representing a variety of formats
Work with a variety of data files representing item-, student-, school-, district-, institution-, state- and national-levels
Data Manipulation
Help organize data into a variety of formats to permit for use in specialized statistical software used for research or psychometric work
Manipulate output from statistical analysis for use in statistical analyses
Quality Management
Maintain process maps and procedures for efficient and thorough documentation of how the statistical analyses were completed and reports were generated
Create and maintain dataset documentation and layouts
Implement QC procedures on all statistical analyses
Identifying and implementing the quality checks and validations for critical business process changes/impacts.
Performing detailed review of project deliverables/outputs such as process documents, publications, requirements etc.
Research
Support the fulfillment of large-scale, strategically important research and analysis projects
Undertake research and analysis projects as secondary investigator
Implement QC procedures on all statistical analyses
Provide personalized data representing a variety of data sources (internal) to research scientists and psychometricians. These data include student performance, meta data, standards, student overall test scores, school/district/institution data and related attributes
Provide research support and guidance to colleagues
About you
You have:
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, social science, math/science field or equivalent experience
One to three years of demonstrated proficiency with statistical analysis programing (SAS, R, or Python preferred)
Experience handling and manipulating large-scale data
Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook), with an emphasis on MS Word and Excel
Scripting and programming skills, and data-oriented personality
Strong organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills, both independently and as the member of a team
Adept problem-solving skills, including using data to inform decisions and actions
Research skills and expertise in methodology
Ability to translate general inquiries into analysis questions and tasks
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Keen attention to detail
Ability to function in a team-oriented unit

We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact. The salary range for a new employee in this position is $56,000-100,000 USD. The salary offer of an individual candidate within this range is specific to their location and qualifications.
