About the job

The Central AI team is a specialist team with high-leverage end-to-end machine learning expertise. We partner with teams across Twilio to solve business-critical problems with AI. We do this by building/operating shared AI infrastructure and services for the long term. 

We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer who is passionate about building, training, scaling, and operating machine learning models that service planet-scale traffic across Twilio. 

Operating from within the Central AI team, this candidate will have the opportunity to impact teams around he company, and tackle challenging, real-world problems by building and scaling model training and model serving infrastructure, building and training highly performant ML models in domains ranging from fraud / anomaly detection, pseudonymization, to attribute prediction.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Build and maintain scalable machine learning solutions in production
  • Train and validate both deep learning-based and statistical-based models considering complexity, performance, and robustness
  • Work closely with software engineers, build tools to enhance productivity and to ship and maintain ML models
  • Demonstrate end-to-end understanding of applications and develop deep a understanding of the “why” behind your models & systems
  • Partner with product managers, tech leads, and stakeholders to analyze business problems, clarify requirements and define the scope of the systems needed
  • Drive high engineering standards on the team through code review, automated testing, and mentoring.

Required:

  • BS or BS-equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of foundational building blocks of modern deep learning
  • 5+ years of applied ML experience, or 3+ years and a Master’s degree
  • Track record of building, shipping and maintaining machine learning systems in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to pick up, understand, and operate effectively in new application / business domains
  • Hands-on experience with containers
  • Familiarity with ML Ops concepts related to testing and maintaining models in production such as testing, retraining, and monitoring
  • Proficiency in Python (preferred) or similar OO language.

Desired:

  • Exposure to Java, C/C++
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform
  • Experience operating in a Kubernetes-based environment
  • Understanding of embedding approaches

 

Location 

This role will be based in our Spain office. 

This role will be remote within Spain or in Madrid with flexible work-from-home.

Approximately <5% travel is anticipated.
