The Nordstrom Merchandising Data Science team uses statistical modeling and analysis to solve some of the most critical problems at Nordstrom from what products we offer, to how much we invest in inventory, to how we price our goods.
We are looking for a leader of our Assortment Data Science and Analysis group. As the leader on this team, you will play a key role in developing analytical strategies and predictive models that improve our ability to offer the right products to customers at the right time, driving higher conversion, lower returns, and happier customers. You will also be responsible for the intelligence we share with the merchandisers, buyers, and planners to support their assortment decisions.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a background leading highly productive teams and strong modeling and analytical skills.

In this role your leadership will drive:
Development of predictive models to inform product assortment choices
Building robust, end-to-end model pipelines and production APIs
Analyzing industry trends and customer style preferences
Working closely with engineering, product, and merchandising business teams
Gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to support various business initiatives using Tableau dashboards, applets, and written communication
Basic Qualifications:
Advanced degree in quantitative field and/or management program
3+ years of related analytical and modeling experience
1+ years of managerial experience with technical teams
Strong communication skills with both technical and business leaders. Ability to speak at a level appropriate for the audience
The ability to implement models and tools through the use of modeling languages (e.g. Python, R)
Hands-on experience with statistical analysis
Hands-on experience with machine learning and data-modeling
Understanding of the software development lifecycle
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with fashion and/or trend related retail business operations
Experience working effectively with software engineering teams
Experience with agile project framework
Experience with version control software, such as Git
Familiarity with SQL and experience with large-scale data
The ability to manipulate and analyze data by writing scripts (in Python, R, etc)
