About the Role

We are looking for a Manager/Senior Analyst, Credit Risk to help Caribou enter the next phase of lending strategy - proprietary underwriting. As one of the first analysts in the newly-built credit team, you will report directly to the VP of Credit and work closely with colleagues in Data Science, Product, and Capital Markets to build a best-in-class credit function on top of a successful origination tech platform. You will have opportunities to lead a wide range of high impact credit analytics projects and shape the company's evolving business model. The Manager/Senior Analyst, Credit Risk responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Partner with data scientists on credit risk scoring model development, evaluation, and implementation
  • Design credit policies(including approval/decline, pricing, loan amount, and verification) to underwrite auto loan asset with industry leading risk-adjusted return while continuing to drive asset growth 
  • Build loss/prepay forecast and loan valuation tools to estimate asset economics for lending partners and optimize levers to drive business growth
  • Lead credit bureau and alternative data research, business case design, and cost-benefit analysis
  • Partner with product managers on new lending product development
  • Assist lender development team on lender network/bounty/allocation optimization
  • Contribute to end-to-end borrower acquisition process, balancing risk, profitability, and customer experience

This role can be based out of Caribou offices in Washington, DC; Denver, CO; Austin, TX. Alternatively, the Manager/Senior Analyst of Credit Risk can work remotely from a state where Caribou does business(we are very remote friendly!). However, this role will require attendance at occasional in-person team meetings. As a result, candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be eligible for this position.

About You

  • 2-5 years of experience in credit risk strategy and analytics 
  • Strong passion for transforming consumer lending industry
  • Proficient in analytical scripting language such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good business understanding of machine learning models
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to challenge the status quo
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Bachelor's degree or higher level program in a quantitative field such as math, economics, engineering

Bonus points for

  • Expertise in credit bureau data
  • Experience in auto lending 
  • Experience in loss forecast and valuation model
