The Position

What You’ll Do

The Research Associate of Marketing Analytics is a role for candidates with 1-3 years of experience in a field related to digital analytics, media analytics, and applied data science. The role covers a range of responsibilities in which you will lead the day-to-day elements of projects from building advanced analytic models that leverage Big Data to creating deliverables through presentations and technology that communicate impactful insights and recommendations. Responsibilities will include scoping and setting up projects, extracting relevant data, conducting analyses, communicating progress, presenting research findings to internal and external stakeholders, and facilitating custom requests.. The Marketing Analytics team’s initiatives include:

  • Marketing attribution models to optimize marketing investments for Consumer and  Business Marketing

  • Prioritizing opportunities and optimizing marketing performance

  • Identifying new growth customers and customer churn, i.e. which customers are at most risk

You Will:

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify solutions that address key business questions  by using sophisticated analytic methodologies 

  • Collaborate as part of a team to drive analyses and insights that lead to more informed decisions and improved business performance

  • Regularly communicate with internal stakeholders, external vendor partners to collect, harmonize & review data, build models, interpret results, and formulate key insights

  • Develop charts, reports and presentations

  • Ensure statistical models and all deliverables are of high quality

  • Work with team to continuously evolve our statistical methodologies and develop new ways of efficiently and effectively solving complex client business problems

Who You Are:

  • You have strong analytical skills, including analysis of big data, statistics, A/B testing, and experimental design 

  • You have a good understanding of a breadth of modeling techniques (e.g. regression models, causal inference, advanced Bayesian techniques)

  • You have strong presentation skills (e.g. PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.) and are able to simply explain complex concepts

  • You have attention to detail and are highly organized

  • You are a self-starter who takes initiative (e.g., Reaching out colleagues outside of reporting lines in different geographies for knowledge sharing)

  • You have strong teamwork and collaboration skills (e.g., could manage a project with a 3rd-party vendor)

  • You’re able to independently lead projects for stakeholders: set timelines and plans, gather data from internal and external sources, run analysis, and create reports.

  • Experience with all phases of data such as acquiring, cleaning, structuring data from multiple sources and analyzing the data using SQL / Python / R.

  • You’re not afraid to ask for help when you need it, whether to troubleshoot a technical issue, find the right tool/resource, engage with a vendor, and so on.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above (ideal areas of study/related study include: Business Analytics and Management, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, and/or Marketing)

  • 1-3 years working in a digital analytics, or data science role

  • Proficiency with enterprise analytics data management and data science tools (ex. SQL, R, BigQuery, Python)

  • Expert Excel skills (Pivot tables, conditional formatting, advanced formulas)

  • Experience connecting Tableau, Google Data Studio or other visualization systems and using for dashboarding or analysis

  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Experience working independently on analytical tasks to build a story

  • Comfortable working with a team developing and presenting presentations using insights derived from analytics

  • Very strong communication and presentation (primarily written) skills, particularly with translating data to a non-technical audience

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

The Consumer Insights team supports Twitter’s Communications, Marketing, and Social organizations with insights that support all phases of marketing from strategy development, market trends, competitive analysis, go to market planning and execution, messaging/positioning, social analytics, campaign measurement and predictive analytics. The Marketing Analytics pod within this team focuses on descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to enable data-driven decisioning and expectations of future performance across Twitter’s Marketing functions.
