We are seeking a Senior ML Engineer to help us build advanced technology in the company. 

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This role will be one of the first tech hires in the company, giving you an opportunity to build cutting-edge technology and platform from the ground up. In this role you will be expected to:

• Research, design, and implement advanced Machine Learning algorithms to address problems in the space of Natural Language Processing (NLP)  and Computer Vision.
• Understand PHC’s business objectives and develop appropriate models to achieve them, along with metrics to track accuracy and progress
• Understand the lifecycle of ML model development and contribute to all parts of this lifecycle.
• Perform statistical analysis to understand the incoming datasets to ensure data quality
• Define and implement the data preprocessing, enrichment, transformation, and feature engineering processes for a given dataset and problem
• Understand model tuning to enhance the accuracy and applicability of the model output
• Keep abreast of developments in the field and implement the relevant advancements in PHC’s ML pipeline
• Collaborate with other engineers and data scientists to define and scope out future projects
• Closely partner with product team on product definitions, time-to-value discussions, and implementation considerations
• Provide technical guidance, communicate technical decisions, and mentor junior engineers
• Work with all levels within the company including executive leadership to bring novel ML solutions to PHC’s end users

REQUIREMENTS

• MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years professional experience as a ML Engineer
• Proven hands-on experience in designing, building, and productionizing ML models in at least one of the following areas: Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Computer Vision
• Proven ability to work with large datasets to understand data quality and implement methods for data cleansing
• Strong understanding and experience in data modeling, algorithms, and data transformation techniques
• In depth knowledge and experience in at least one of the following development languages: Python, Go, C++, Java, and/or Scala
• Experience working in a cloud environment
• Strong communication skills with a high emphasis on the ability to explain technology in business terms and to express opinions clearly
• Solutions oriented – ability to creatively solve problems on the fly
• Ability to make decisions and drive initiatives to completion

The team supports remote-first employment,  but the ideal candidate for this role will be based in the SF Bay Area, as travel to our offices in Palo Alto and Oakland will be required.
