We are seeking a Head of Data Science to lead our Data Science efforts in building a scalable intelligence layer for our company.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

In this role, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist with expertise in weather or climate modeling, geo-spatial data analysis, or risk management to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing data-driven solutions that forecast impacts of environmental threats and help customers identify moments when action is needed to protect their assets.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Understand existing models and data in the market;
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate advanced algorithms and statistical models for biorisk data analysis, including weather and climate data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers and software developers, to design, develop, and deploy data-driven solutions for biorisk management
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts on the development, maintenance and improvement of models and algorithms.
  • Conduct research on new and emerging data science techniques and methodologies and recommend best practices to the team
  • Write, document and maintain testing code in Python, R, Pyspark, and SQL
  • Support engineering in the production of standardized, scalable models & pipelines.
  • Highly collaborative team work 

In addition, this role will be responsible for other ad-hoc duties as assigned.  

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of Data science methods including predictive modeling, data cleaning and manipulation, and OR
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, data visualization, and machine learning algorithms
  • Experience with GIS and geospatial data analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R and experience writing production-quality, maintainable code.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Total compensation includes salary and stock option grants. The salary range for this position is between $150k to 215k, and individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. PHC offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, wellbeing offerings, 401K, unlimited PTO, paid holidays, and a work from home stipend. PHC covers 100% of medical premiums for employees and 50% of medical premiums for dependents.
