State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$123,214 to $240,042 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$112,013 to $218,220 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$100,811 to $196,398 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, SE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Position Summary:

This individual contributor position is responsible for leading analytical projects on identifying business opportunities, answering business questions and developing business solutions.  The team member will need to be able to understand business needs and create research and implementation plans using data, statistical models and machine learning techniques.  The team member needs to have very expert data and programming skills and be able to work closely with cross-functional teams of software engineers, data analysts and product leaders on business initiatives. Will independently lead projects and mentor more junior members of the data science team.

Essential Job Functions:

The team member will work with different business department to include Product, UW, Claims, Sales Development, Marketing and Customer Experience with understanding of the business processes and business needs in these areas.  Identify and independently lead business opportunities to improve our process, accuracy and efficiency.  Leveraging different sources, statistical and machine learning algorithms and automated processes to help improve business processes and decision-making.  Create Reviews and lead the discussions with colleagues and managers as necessary.  Drive data support on projects and work closely with business on solution implementation through business or IT process.  Create monitoring procedures and reports for projects implemented.  Review monitoring results, and identify potential opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Research new data sources and data infrastructure.  Create documents and best practices to help business team access the new data.  Create data repositories in new data environment to help with business needs.  Reviews data for accuracy and optimizes methods of data retrieval when necessary.  Prepares reports, graphs and charts based on research and analyses.  Create, maintain and improve dynamic reports, graphs and charts through dashboard and other and programming . Create procedures to automate and streamline analysis procedures.  Establish automated procedures to help reduce cost and improve efficiency.  Answer questions and conduct ad hoc analysis from business on related reports.

Creates presentations breaking down problems identified, potential solutions.  Lead meetings to present findings and recommendations. Team member should have an expert background in creating and explaining meaningful graphs and be skilled at assembling and presenting PowerPoint presentations. Communicates proactively, clear and consistently with SMEs, EBI, IT, and Management in the various functional areas in order to understand each job function.  Through this communication, the team member will be expected to increase the breadth of his/her understanding of the processes associated with these functions, and of the various KPI’s that drive business results in each area and overall

Mentoring more junior members of the data science team.  Provide trainings on analytical tools, programming language and standards, as well as business insights.  Validate results from entry-level team members  and provide feedback on processes and approaches. Conduct best practices in code reviews, and set up a state-of-art and highly automated CI/CD pipeline from raw data to ML models.

Regular attendance at work on a full-time schedule of at least 8 hours and 40 hours per week

Education:

• Worker characteristics are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in math, statistics, computer science or other related areas. Master's Degree (or ACAS/FCAS) preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• At least 6 years of experience in data mining and data/statistical analysis.

• At least 6 years experience with SQL and statistical software packages (Python, R, SAS) required.

• At least 6 years experience working as a data scientist or similar role, with proven track record in data processing, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques

• At least 3 year experience in P&C insurance or related field

• At least 6 year experience leading projects in group settings and mentoring peers/interns

• 3 years of experience working with a sales domain is strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrated solid skills in data mining, machine learning, programming and optimization.

• Expert knowledge with cloud-based advanced data and analytics environment.

• Proven track record for problem-solving, comfort with ambiguity.

• Expert ability to think conceptually, analytically and creatively.

• Knowledge of working with AWS, GitHub or other cloud-based infrastructure.

• Expert-level experience using R, Python and other programing languages.

• Expert-level data skills and the ability to work with large structured and unstructured data sources.

• Expert-level experience in predictive modeling, general model building, and validation procedures.

• Expert-level experience in text mining or other text analytics techniques.

• Excellent problem-solving skills required.

• Excellent analytical and critical thinking required.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
