State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$123,214 to $240,042 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$112,013 to $218,220 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$100,811 to $196,398 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, SE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Position Summary

This Manager, Data Governance is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing the company's data governance program by developing technical and operational plans, procedures and guidelines. Conceptualize and own the data architecture for multiple large-scale projects, while evaluating design and operational cost-benefit within systems. As our data needs evolve, the Data Governance Manager will respond accordingly, making the necessary changes to the enterprise data governance program to ensure best practices.

• Create and contribute to frameworks that improve the efficacy of logging data, while working with data infrastructure to triage issues and resolution.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs, representing key data insights visually in a meaningful way.

• Define and manage SLA for all data sets in allocated areas of ownership.

• Determine and implement the security model based on privacy requirements, confirm safeguards are followed, address data quality issues, and evolve governance processes within allocated areas of ownership.

• Design, build, and launch collections of sophisticated data models and visualizations that support multiple use cases across different products or domains.

•Management and conduct of data profiling assessments and system analysis to assure data quality standards.

• Solve our most challenging data integration problems, utilizing optimal ETL patterns, frameworks, query techniques, sourcing from structured and unstructured data sources.

• Assist in owning existing processes running in production, optimizing complex code through advanced algorithmic concepts.

• Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to facilitate easier development of data artifacts.

• Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities to drive impact.

•Mentor team members by giving/receiving actionable feedback.

• Create robust data quality practices and associated metrics to measure when data quality is degrading.

•Work with Business Intelligence and IT partners to correct any underlying data quality issues

• Increase the knowledge of data citizens throughout the organization, so they are able to make data-based decisions with tools that are appropriate to their technical competencies

• Be a thought leader and ambassador to increase the proper use of data throughout the organization

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

• Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Experience:

• 7 or more years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, data governance, and/or data science

• 7 or more years experience in writing SQL statements and custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance.

• 5 or more years experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.

• 3 or more years experience in P&C insurance

• 5 years as a team lead or in managerial roles

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, DGSP, CIPP) preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Enterprise Data Governance program, driving data governance initiatives across Mercury.

• Develop a cross-functional data governance organization consisting of an executive decision-making body, governance committee, federated network of data stewards, and data custodians. Define the roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of data.

• Demonstrated experience working with senior stakeholders to influence decision-making across organization and drive data governance initiatives. Support to business stakeholders onboard data governance principles, practices, and tools, such as Atlan

• Define data governance policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Establish processes for data classification, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality management.

• Support and manage a knowledgeable team of Data Governance resources. Identify opportunities to grow the team and expand its responsibilities to provide value enterprise-wide.

• Lead the growth and expansion of data stewardship using a federated model, creating a communication network across various business units.

• Manage and oversee the MDM initiative, identifying opportunities to enhance business value through MDM.

• Prepare and advocate for an Enterprise Data Quality monitoring and management program, securing approval and prioritization for the project across the company's data initiatives.

• Lead the development and implementation of data governance tools and technologies to support data governance objectives.

• Monitor and enforce data governance policies and procedures through regular audits, assessments, and compliance reviews.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, corporate audit, compliance, and business units, to ensure alignment and compliance with data governance policies and procedures.

• Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements in data governance and recommend enhancements to the data governance framework as needed.

• Act as a subject matter expert on data governance matters and represent the organization in discussions with regulatory agencies, auditors, and other stakeholders.
