Company at a Glance
OpenX is focused on unleashing the full economic potential of digital media companies. We do this by making digital advertising markets and technologies that are designed to deliver optimal value to publishers and advertisers on every ad served across all screens.

At OpenX, we have built a team that is uniquely experienced in designing and operating high-scale ad marketplaces, and we are constantly on the lookout for thoughtful, creative executors who are as fascinated as we are about finding new ways to apply a blend of market design, technical innovation, operational excellence, and empathetic partner service to the frontiers of digital advertising.

Who we are looking for
OpenX Technologies, Inc. is looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in the Data Science Org. Our exchange processes hundreds of billions of ad requests daily, resulting in petabytes of new data daily. This data volume demands cutting-edge applications of sophisticated machine learning models and novel platforms to function efficiently and provide the best value for our customers. We’re looking for data scientists who are experienced in the ad tech programmatic ecosystem, in particular, building advertiser-facing products. The ideal candidate has a creative mind which they put to use by constructing models tailored for prediction with high dimensionality data sets — we are looking for those who can translate requests from business and product into Data Science / ML problems. They should also be capable of leading and executing on those projects with state-of-the-art advances from the literature while incorporating them into production systems.

The role, while remote, is schedule-centered in the US Eastern time zone.

If you’re:
Proactive - always seeking a satisfying solution to unexplored questions
Persistent - exhibit the skills and attitude to lead a project to success as well as how to extract yourself from common pitfalls
Creative - researching and developing a solution to challenging problems with large datasets
We want to talk with you.

Key Responsibilities:
-Extract data from terabyte-scale datasets and transform it into compact representations suitable for various models.
-Develop and manage ML pipelines to build user audiences that drive outcomes for advertisers.
-Tune existing models and products to enhance functionality and introduce new features.
-Guide and develop DS/ML projects from inception to production-level deployment while reporting progress and challenges to stakeholders.
-Coordinate with other team members to deploy, manage, and synchronize the function of all ML models in production and development.

Required Qualifications:
-Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an MS with 8+ years of relevant experience.
-Fluency in SQL and programming experience in Python.
-Extensive experience with ML techniques beyond common regression, particularly in the context of TensorFlow and its related applications/environment.
-A strong track record of nurturing DS/ML projects to maturity with maximal business impact and supporting and improving those projects beyond deployment.
-Mastery of probability and statistics, especially techniques that scale to massive datasets.
-Strong communication and presentation skills, proficient in analyzing and summarizing key points from a dataset or experiment result.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience working with a cloud platform like GCP/AWS/Azure, with an emphasis on GCP and the TensorFlow/TFX platform.
-Familiarity with other programming languages such as Java and Golang.
-Experience providing mentorship and guidance to more junior employees.
