About the Team:

At SmartAsset you will join a team of data scientists that are at the forefront of AI/ML applications for the company. You will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with leaders from different teams (Marketing, Product, Sales, and Technology), and with our growing team of Data Engineers, and Data Analysts.

You will identify opportunities, create roadmaps, and deliver data-products that will have an enormous impact on the business from week one.

 

About the Job:

As a Principal Data Scientist you will lead the development and the deployment of machine learning models that will drive business decisions, with a focus on performance forecasting and model monitoring.
You will help to design data science roadmaps, mentor junior data scientists, and lead the adoption of good practices across the whole team (unit testing, model versioning, model monitoring, etc.).

You will utilize your strong problem-solving skills, computational experience, and business analytics to solve real-world problems at scale. You will design and implement a variety of data products to support and drive business operations, working cross-functionally with other business leaders.

Skills/Experience You Have:

  • Experience leading multiple domains in a company, delivery of models working with cross functional teams, proven ROI returns for business
  • Proficient in Python (pandas, numpy, matplotlib, scikit learn, tensorflow, etc.) and SQL.
  • Professional experience with the development and deployment of predictive models, with an emphasis on time series and categorization models.
  • Knowledgeable of best practices such as version control (git), documentation, environments, unit tests, and containerization.
  • Professional habits around model validation, testing, and tracking.
  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience. Strong quantitative background.

Skills/Experience Preferred

  • Experience in the deployment of Forecasting models (ARIMA, LSTM, …).
  • Experience with ML services like Feast, FastApi, AWS Sagemaker, DataBrew, Feature Store and with common Data Warehouses (e.g. SnowFlake).
  • Experience with model monitoring (drift / performance, confidence intervals, …).
  • Comfortable in working on the line between data science and data engineering and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • An Agile development mindset, appreciating the benefit of constant iteration and improvement. A very high bar for output quality, while balancing long and short term solutions.
