About the Role:
CrowdStrike’s Data Science team is expanding -- we are at the exciting intersection of Machine Learning, Big Data, and Security and are looking to add a Principal Engineer specializing in machine learning and its various applications in security space. You will have the opportunity to apply your coding, mathematical and scientific research skills to the bleeding edge of security technology. The Data Science team is part of Office of CTO and provides AI and ML platform and services across various product groups. This team has one of the most critical roles to play in ensuring our products are best-in-class in the industry. This team currently drives most of the production ML deployments across millions of endpoints as well as Cloud.
Principal Engineer:
With a challenging role comes the requirement for a skilled professional who can lead efforts to at CrowdStrike for best of breed capability. As a principal engineer, you will
Work with a team of data scientists, threat researchers, engineers and product managers across various Crowdstrike products to create technology and proof of concepts to enhance and improve security posture for Crowdstrike customers in enterprise, cloud, mobile IoT and other domains.
Work with key decision makers across the organization to develop AI/ML strategy and success metrics for current and future products and technologies.
Review and advice on release of key capability in field including new machine learning models.
Mentor researchers and data scientists to help them gain new skills and be successful
Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches and success criteria for critical assignments
Effectively communicate within all levels of CrowdStrike
Requirements:
10+ years industry experience and a Master’s degree in a related field
Solid interpersonal and communication skills to communicate, along with a strong sense of empathy to help mentor team members
An expert in utilizing Machine Learning techniques and intimately familiar with the standard algorithms, their trade-offs, their usage, and how to tune them
A proven background in using machine learning and artificial intelligence for threat detection as well as other areas of Security like ITSecOps, Data Protection and Public Cloud etc.
Have experience working on very large data sets of sparse high dimensional data and experience in pre-processing and analyzing such data to gain actionable insights
Strong understanding of machine learning pipelines on premise and in public cloud and how to support machine learning models in the field is required.
Familiarity with the application of AI/ML in threat detection workflows is very desirable.
Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac, etc)
Familiarity with security use cases around public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)
Strong understanding of file formats for compiled code and scripted files
Strong interpersonal communications skills required, with the ability to demonstrate leadership and team building expertise required.
