Flexible Location

TNTP seeks a full-time Reporting Analyst, Financials, for our Central Operations division. This position is based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. and is available immediately. Occasional travel is required.

Who We Are

A national nonprofit founded by teachers, TNTP believes our nation’s public schools can offer all children an excellent education. Today we’re a diverse team from a wide range of fields, united by a fierce commitment to helping school systems end educational inequality. We work at every level of the public education system to attract and train talented teachers and school leaders, ensure rigorous and engaging classrooms, and create environments that prioritize great teaching and accelerate student learning.

Staff on TNTP's Central Operations team are at the center of the organization. We span various expertise areas, including Finance, Technology, Legal, Organizational Learning, and Human Resources. TNTP's Finance department is responsible for developing and executing the fiscal strategy for our growing and financially thriving $70M+ organization of 400+ full-time employees across the country. The Finance department is a dynamic team of experts who do not just report on numbers; they dig into them, proactively make recommendations, and develop and manage progressive systems that keep our organization running strong.

What You’ll Do

As a Reporting Analyst, Financials, you’ll inform the direction of our organization by drawing insights from our financial data to identify trends, needs, and opportunities. You’ll create reports & dashboards in our reporting systems, Workday and Adaptive, and analyze results to determine what is working and what needs to change. In addition, you’ll be an integral part of TNTP’s monthly financial reporting process, budget, and forecast preparation processes. A Reporting Analyst’s day-to-day work changes over time, based on the needs of the Central Operations division.  There is not a single typical “day in the life,” which keeps things fresh. Here are some examples of what our Reporting Analysts do:

  • Clean, merge, and analyze our financial data and create reports/dashboards for leadership to visualize this data to inform sound financial decisions.

  • Work cross-functionally to support the strategic and tactical goals of the data management team.

  • Support the design and presentation of ongoing financial reporting, including financial statements, board/audit decks, and budget vs. actual reporting.

  • Standardize our financial reporting, including creating reproducible analysis so that colleagues can follow and extend your work.

  • Ensure integrity of financial data via integrations to/from Workday, Adaptive, and Salesforce.

  • Develop leaders’ and other Central Operations team members’ understanding of reporting, dashboards and presented results.

  • Be comfortable with people and workforce data as it will be required to provide thought-partnership and support with merging people + financials data.

  • Participate in TNTP's data team to deepen understanding of analytics best practices, including compiling, and presenting data.

What You Bring

First and foremost, we are looking for amazing people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences, are inspired by our mission, and are highly motivated to change children's lives through education.  We value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience and exemplify this through the makeup of our team at all levels. You will be right at home here if you cultivate strong relationships and push yourself, your work, and the people around you to the next level. We encourage those with the following identities to apply: Black, Latinx, Asian American, and Pacific Islander, local Indigenous people, LGBTQIA+ and non-binary people, veterans, people living with disabilities, and others with lived experience being part of marginalized communities.

We expect the Reporting Analyst, Financials to bring:

  • A passion for getting better at analysis.  It’s rare that anyone comes in with across-the-board mastery, and you should plan on intentionally growing your skills while here to fill out your toolkit.  You’ve taught yourself a programming language or analysis technique.

  • Superlative attention to detail. Our work and financial/staffing decisions rest on the bedrock of your work. We’ll count on you to surface and resolve issues along the way, as the integrity of your final product must be unquestionable.

  • A healthy sense of skepticism. You’ll evaluate the relative merits of different approaches, hold the line on what we can conclude when results are limited, and ensure your time is being spent in the right places.

  • An ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. You will often have competing requests for analysis or reporting with short timelines. You are comfortable setting priorities and managing up as needed.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Prior experience with Workday, Salesforce, and Adaptive Insights reporting required. Reporting certifications in either system is a plus.

  • Learning and growth mindset.

  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, accounting, or operations (preferred).

  • Strong written and oral communication skills: you share the appropriate amount, at the appropriate level for the audience, in a clear and compelling way.

  • Ability to work efficiently amidst competing priorities.

  • Comfort with receiving and sharing constructive feedback.

  • Comfort with and ability to work with sensitive and confidential employee data.
