Responsibilities:

  • The primary focus of this position will be owning the Surety Loss Model. This will entail applying innovative techniques to improve the existing loss model, ability to maintain existing Python code (or willingness to learn), ability to communicate results to users, continuing to build out our cloud infrastructure, and the desire to create a loss model process that adds value throughout the surety organization.
  • Extract, transform and analyze data using quantitative techniques and/or statistical modeling to interpret data, make actionable recommendations and present findings to management, senior leadership, and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in team efforts to launch new and industry leading predictive models that will help influence decision making across Surety.
  • Extract, transform, visualize, and analyze data using quantitative techniques and/or predictive modeling to interpret data, make actionable recommendations and present findings to management, senior leadership, and key stakeholders.
  • Gain experience and solid understanding of Surety’s internal structure and business units, such as Home Office and Field Underwriting, Claims, and Professional Advisory Services.
  • Manage the quarterly loss model runs and share results across multiple groups in the surety organization.
  • Work closely with Surety’s business units to understand their information needs and deliver high-quality actionable information.
  • This role will be an essential part of the annual planning process with high visibility.
  • Perform special projects as assigned. May lead moderately complex projects/work streams which involve multiple team members.
  • Gain an understanding on what makes an entity risky. This includes digging deep into what might be driving the poor performance of companies.
